Say it ain't so Calvin :(

Alabama completed 171 passes in 2017. 1/3 of those went to Calvin Ridley. The rest were evenly spread out amongst about 8 other guys.

Hurts attempted more than 20 passes only 5 times last season. His average completions per game was about 11.

Standout WRs are not really making a great decision by going to Bama.

Unless they want to win a title.

My point exactly. Clemson spreads their carries across 3-4 RBs every year and doesn't really feature any of them, but the 4 and 5 star guys keep going there because they see other value. It can be done at GT, but the reality is that we haven't figured out how yet.

Whiffle Ball

Alabama has plenty of 5* WRs lining up to play for them, and they don't get much more action than our WRs do, especially since the catches are spread around so much.

'Bama threw for almost 3000 yds in 2016 and about 2700 yds in 2017.

We threw for 1600 yds in 2016 and just over 900 in 2017.

Like you said "Alabama has plenty of 5* WRs lining up to play for them" (you say this like it's a bad thing lol). Conversely, we've got zero 4* or 5* WRs lining up to play for us.

Not sure how your post really helps your opinion here.

  1. Amari Cooper
  2. Julio Jones
  3. Calvin Ridley
  4. Gehrig Dieter
  5. Cam Sims
  6. ArDarius Stewart
  7. DeAndrew White
All are current, drafted NFL WRs who played for Alabama.

Looks like they made great decisions to play there.

One per year or less? What about the 2-3 other guys per recruiting class that fought for the #2 receiver spot?

Real talk, kids that get drafted out of bama would get drafted anywhere. They go to bama because at bama you never have to go to class, fear the law, budget, or go to bed alone. Relatively speaking.

more than 1 per year. And 7 guys playing in the NFL looks pretty good when making the sales pitch.

Are you saying it's better to NOT have 5-star players on your team? That's a strange, mediocre opinion to have.

No I am saying that they could do better if they went somewhere that they would be the #1.

I'm saying WRs at Bama don't get the ball much either, but that hasn't stopped them from choosing to go there or being successful at the next level. It's not a bad thing at all - it just shows that they have a run based offense and their WRs don't put up much stats at all, but they still do fine.

The funny thing about their "pro-style" offense is that nobody plays like that in the pros anymore. Pro QBs sling the ball all over the place because power running games generally don't work.

Julio, Cooper, and Ridley were all #1s. Not checking on this but I think they all won a natty and I know they're all making millions. The other guys are making bank in the NFL and most probably were on a natty.

Seems like they made pretty good decisions.

the funny thing is that you guys are comparing 'Bama's offense to ours. Bama's "run-based offense" routinely throws for 3x more yards per year than ours.

A decent WR who wants to catch 25+ passes/year would be foolish to come here right now.

Sorry dude, looks like the issue I put before you is way over your head. Maybe next time.

looks like you've made a pretty poor argument to begin with. Your claim that "Standout WRs are not really making a great decision by going to Bama." is wrong by every measure.

2015 Ridley had 89 catches as a sophomore, Stewart had 63, and their #3 WR had 38. All more than our #1 WR had.
2016 Ridley had 72 catches, #2 WR Stewart had 54 catches. (Our #1 WR Jeune had 25). Stewart got drafted to the NFL.
2017 Ridley had 63 catches and was a 1st rounder in the NFL draft.

Saban's had 3 1st-round WRs drafted. Sounds like a decent place for a WR to play.

It'd be nice to see you respond with something factual/statistical rather than lame jibes. I'd come to expect more from you, Mr. Colt. But I've also come to expect that from the Scheme lovers. Always the first to resort to that sort of thing.

Oh well, IIWII.

Dude I’m talking about all of the 4 and 5 star WRs they have had that AREN’T on your limited list of NFL players. What about THOSE guys?

I may be Colt but you are the Dolt.

apparently, those guys sucked and were overrated by recruiting services. 7 first-round-drafted WRs says going there is pretty good for one's NFL aspirations. Your 4-5-star examples clearly weren't good enough to get starting jobs over future NFL guys. No guarantees they would've been any better at Ok St or freaking Utah State, for that matter. They sure as hell wouldn't have done any better being downfield chop blockers and getting 1 pass/game thrown to 'em.

you do understand that not every 5-star player makes it to the NFL, right? Wait, clearly you don't.
