So … I Wonder If The Head Coach Was Already Selected …

Let it play out. I see no evidence of heavy handed donor intervention. Last year they publicly stated they had the money to rid CGC yet the decision was left to the AD, who didn’t pull the trigger. No way that happens at Auburn or Texas. I’d say our money folks are fairly reserved all things considered.

Until they hire Bobinski. Don’t forget that.

I don't think identifying an all-star staff will be at all difficult for anyone that follows college football. Negotiating their contracts is a different story, but Batt will certainly be part of that process. If we plan on just hiring a big name coach and not giving him the money to hire a really good staff, we are dumber than I thought even after TFG and the last staff.
I'm not as sure of the first. No one here would of really considered Ted Roof as getting hired as DC by a former DC coach at a place like OU, but it happened. I can't claim to know how exactly head coaches select coordinators, but it may not follow the same logic we would use. I suppose a bridging idea between us is you mention negotiating the contracts; to that I would combine the trick within that is what would be required to convince an all-star coordinator to come here and work for a first time head coach. Could be done I'm sure, but for what price?

Has seemed a mixed bag so far. Also confining it to donors is probably unfair; I'm also thinking of influential names around the program. O'Leary is a big one cause from what I recall, he had a big hand in getting Collins and Key here in the first place (and maybe Stansbury as well?). How much may he be trying to get Key the head coach job? Just another IF to add to what I said really.

No. No. No!!! For Pete's sake!

Don't you know hiring staff requires a super-secret decoder ring?

Yeah but CPJ won multiple FCS championships at GS then went on to turnaround Navy. The best Chadwell has done is get to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoff once.
Really?

The Chanticleers currently compete in the Sun Belt Conference, which participates in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). From the start of its football program in 2003 through 2016, Coastal was part of the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).

It's kinda hard to make the FCS playoffs coaching an FBS football team.
