So Yates is starting

Yeah should have started all last year and the year before.. then now we’d have an experienced, confident QB.
Ok, we had a good kicker and we coached him up. Then he was ööööed up. We got another good kicker, coached him and now he’s ööööed up.

Sims started against FSU and gave us hope. We coached him and now he’s ööööed up. Why do we think we’re not going to öööö up Yates?

Now if you tell me we’re leaving Yates alone and not coaching him at all, he may have a chance.

All I’m saying is this team would have the most chance to win if Yates was here as a 2 year starting QB rn.. the coaching staff has ööööed it all up with the musical chairs in 2019 and crowning sims the starter as a true frosh.. building no depth

He is nowhere near JT5.
If you can read I said “it” factor LIKE JT

as in Yates exhibits the same kind of “it” factor JT possessed. He’s not nearly as fast or talented athletically. But when they both have the ball under center you feel like they won’t öööö up as much as another guy would

That is boring but an opinion based on how you feel about him playing one half of a game against NIU. Not Miami, not FSU, not UNC. We will see.

The second string QB is always the most popular player.
Pretty much. We did this same BS when Graham, Johnson, and Oliver were in the rotation. Everyone felt their guy was obviously the best

So if Sims is available today, either every coach on one team is FOS and/or lied to us all summer about Sims or this decision is based on fan bitching after the first game. Otherwise, Sims “earned it” over an offseason of practice and a bad half of football doesn’t make Yates the sudden answer or Yates “earning it” if Sims consistently outperformed him over weeks of practice.

Correct. The pocket was there, we just have to complete the passes. Even on one of Yates short completions (driving north, completion near the opponent's sideline) we had a WR open deep he didn't see which would have been an easy TD (provided the WR catches an uncovered pass).

And both of our QB need to be coached to step up in the pocket. Yates’ grounding penalty was due to retreating. Had he moved up, the OL had a chance to block.

Call it whatever. Yes I watched him at Milton. it’s easy to see for me at least that he’s the most competent ball handler and has the most poise of any QB on this roster rn. Idk how others can’t see it. He has “it” factor like JT

I watched a few of his Milton games too his senior year and arrived at the same exact conclusion. Mentally he is very similar to JT. He just makes things happen

All Yates needs to do is hand the ball off to Mason, Smith and sprinkle in some Gibbs. Throw a pass once every 10-15 plays to keep them honest. öööö it ain’t that hard.

I hope Sims is healthy and gets to play a few series after Yates runs up an insurmountable lead.
If they want to hold Sims out due to injury concern that's fine and might be wise.

ööööing Collins. Wrong again. Obviously he should be starting Tom Brady or Justin Thomas. Yet another reason I'm a F. A. G.

We will see. You have a one half sample size of Yates against NIU and have determined he is our savoir.
Honestly, this is why I see starting Yates as a good idea. Let’s see what he has to offer against KSU. Gives Yates a full game and Sims time to fully heal too.

Sims is dressed out and warming up. Has a sleeve or wrap on his left arm.

JRjr

To be fair, it may take a while to convince them there will sometimes be a pocket to step up in to.
