Sources say CPJ could step aside after this season?

Nor do i understand, i just dont like us being looked at also-rans in some lower tier bowl or another ho-hum season.
Well, who the öööö does? But it's ööööing stupid to expect swapping HCs will automatically make it better. Johnson is a damn good coach and while we MAY be able to improve, it's highly unlikely unless you change something else.

I saw 'em too. Saw all the Ross years and had season tickets for most of Friedgen's years.

BTW, The personal stuff doesn't really help your argument and, as an aside, you're not very good at it. Lame homo jokes? What's next - yer-mom stuff? Does that make 2015 and 2017 'successful' seasons?

RamblinWreck92,

I recommend you do 3 things...very quickly:

1. You WILL apologize for making threats on this site.

2. An immediate suspension of your account until AFTER 9/14/2018 for this HIGHLY offensive action.

3. I expect an IMMEDIATE and FORMAL condemnation of RamblinWreck92 for this action and a warning to ALL posters that making comments like his towards StingTalk members is offensive.

I'm prepared to pursue this issue further with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations if these 3 requests are not acted upon by 5:00 PM Tuesday.

I can handle all manner of juvenile postings, however, I WILL NOT tolerate slanderous/illegal/highly offensive actions by this account towards the members of this board.

I await your immediate response and action.

Yes. I am SERIOUS.

F'ing SERIOUS

Apparently you do. And an also-ran, lower tier bowl isn't where we are at today. It has been "no bowl" for 2 out of three years. But that's okay, we won an Orange Bowl once.

Since you don't attend games or contribute to the program financially, what does it matter? I know that you and @TampaBayJacket @RamblinWreck92 @Yukonwreck enjoy being miserable, but cherry picking one year where everything went wrong with a large # of injuries and sandwiched between a great season in '14 and a very good one in '16 is just you being an ass.
come on bro, we all want GT to win. Nobody wants to be miserable but I hear ya, sometimes we can focus too much on the negative.

What's OK about it? I'm not a happy camper by any means, but apparently I'm far more rational than your kind who ignores the good seasons and wants to fire the coach to hire ANYONE ELSE after every loss.

something something yer mom.

The only way that happens is if he wins the natty. He's already had us finish top 10 twice during his tenure at Tech. The only way people wont question the triple option is if he wins the big one.
The "big one" being defined as a New Year's Six bowl against an SEC non-CFP qualifier? I'll drink to that.

Most college fans do want their team to be better. Some of us believe the way to achieve that is to make a coaching change. When Gailey was the coach, that was the prevailing attitude. When Pepper was the coach, that was the prevailing attitude, when Bill Le**s was the coach that was the prevailing attitude. Today it is not the prevailing attitude--YET.

So, at some point, do you understand that the school is a bigger impediment to success than a coach? That doesn't mean that GT shouldn't hire the best they can nor hold a current coach to account for how the program is doing. I'm curious to see if some of the new initiatives from TStan (such as the increased recruiting budget) help the overall program.

However, until GT materially changes it's attitude towards athletics I don't think that GT will be a consistent winner like a # of schools in the region.

That's pretty much all you focus on by starting threads like this (which are made up "rumors" to being w/). While it's silly to be positive all of the time, it really is ok not to be miserable nearly 100% of the time. Otherwise, what's the point of following GT if it just makes you miserable?

Can we all not agree that most of us would like to have a better football team? Most college fans do want their team to be better. Some of us believe the way to achieve that is to make a coaching change. When Gailey was the coach, that was the prevailing attitude. When Pepper was the coach, that was the prevailing attitude, when Bill Le**s was the coach that was the prevailing attitude. Today it is not the prevailing attitude--YET. The present coach wins just enough to stay employed. "Calling for his head" and wanting Tech to do better are two very different activities. My concern is that the prevailing attitude today is similar to when Gailey was starting to wobble. We aren't going 1-10, like we once did, we are going to bowl games somewhat regularly, we have won some big games, so let's not mess that up by changing coaches. Where are we going to find a better coach? We aren't a good gig anymore. The risk of getting worse outweighs the reward of getting better. So we sit on our hands. We made a change from Gailey (too late IMHO) but we did get better. It can be done.
I'm actually not sure I agree with this. That describes Gailey pretty well - we were always pretty decent, but we had reached a point where it was obvious that we were as good as we were going to get under him. 2006 was the ceiling, and that wasn't good enough.

Under Johnson, 2015 and 2017 were certainly not winning enough by anybody's standards. The difference is that 2009 and especially 2014 were so good that Johnson has proven to be more than capable of reaching that "next level". As long as I feel like repeating that is a distinct possibility and that we are making changes to avoid the lows and increase the highs, CPJ has my full support.

Oh I completely agree that CPJ is guilty of raising the bar by which he is judged to a very high level. But if Dabo or Saban or Urban go 3-9 this year followed by 5-7, don't you thing the natives would get restless--even if it were just a tiny bit?
