I searched the thread but didn't see where anyone mentioned the considerable reduction in water usage due to the turf. I recall the number being like a 75% reduction.

Going back to grass seems like an irresponsible decision.

IIRC, there’s literally a spring under the field that was being diverted into a sewer but then we built a cistern to capture it for use on the field.

I would gladly cut my personal water consumption to bring back grass

I don't doubt that aritificial turf has its upsides and its places, but GRASS best fits a stadium and setting that is all about tradition. As a university that's about technology I'd embrace artificial turf if it were wholly superior to grass but it ain't.
