Tashard Choice Gone

Once PJ’s talent leaves, we’re in serious trouble.
Once the zero points in three and a half games and the secondary in the 121 out of 130 passing defense leaves, we're in serious trouble? Interesting. Please elaborate, because those numbers almost literally can't get worse. Are we going to score negative points, or drop the other 9 spots padding us from the bottom?

They were pretty good with competent coaching.

Aren't we down to only cpj running backs now?

Everyone jizzes their pants because they look at jumping 10 to 15 spots in recruiting ranking and think that some sort of monumental and game changing achievement for the program.

That’s basically taking those recruiting dude’s opinions and ability (along with Collins’) to identify someone as the #300 player and #19 OL in the nation vs #458 player and #27 rated OL.

That’s who and what we all get geeked up over.

The way people talk and how CGC sells and sold it you’d expect us to have generational (but young) talent across the board. We don’t.

So you don’t think Collins’ recruiting classes beat Johnson’s?
I think we are marginally better at identifying contributing talent. I think the staff is heavily reliant on camps and stars so we get a lot of well reviewed recruits who in the right hands would be great but we lack the coaching to fully unlock their potential.

Yates only played for one coach. His counterpart must’ve gotten all the “competent” coaching from Patenaude. And our defense hasn’t been in the same zipcode as “pretty good” in like 15 years

I was talking about the secondary as that who you specifically called out

We were 97th in yards per pass attempt in 2018. Better than the 128th this year but not “pretty good”

Yeah there's not much difference between the No. 25 class and the No. 45 class. The gap between the No. 1 class and the No. 25 class is the same as between the No. 25 class and the No. 85 class. Folks around here don't seem to understand that.

Collins hasn't even recruited a top 25 class.

He hit "big" with a 27 rated class.
Then dropped to 48 and now is hanging in the mid 30s this year. Sure it is marginally better than CPJ but is that due to Collins juice or just switching to an offense that doesn't hamper recruiting?

Remember the anonymous coach's comment stte "we thought Collins would be better at recruiting, he's mostly getting guys the rest of the league passed on for one reason or another" maybe some truth to that.

Sure, we’re recruiting better, but who gives a öööö? Literally the only reason recruiting matters is if it helps you win more games. If I could choose between:

1) Poor recruiting, but mediocre performance with some excellent years sprinkled in

or

2) Good recruiting, but pathetic performance

I know what I’m choosing every time. Of course I’d like to have better players, but honestly I don’t care how many 5* players we sign or how many guys we put in the NFL. If they win games and represent GT well, I’m happy. If not, nobody is.

This is so out of context. The recruiting is much better. Than it’s been with any other coach in recent memory. That 48th class would be significantly better if transfers were counted in the rankings. Quantity was biggest issue with that class.
