Tech Opens A 14 Pt Underdog To Ole Miss…

Good news: they lost a ton of starters(14), from last year, including QB Corral who now plays for the Carolina Panthers. Bad news: they return most of their OL. They are not at the level of Clemson and uga, more like Miami and FSU. Seems to me the line is about right, but a blow-out is a really bad omen for CGC and the season. OTOH, being competitive or winning provides a healthy dose of hope.
They also hit the transfer portal hard, bringing in something like 16-17 guys, including former five star RB Zach Evans and one of Louisville's best receivers. They also have Otis Reese, who was a four or five star kid out of Lee County.

Just looked at their stats: Ivey has a 1.5 sacks. Jaron Willis hasn't recorded any stats yet.

If our O does not have it’s share of TOP then we get curb stomped. With that said, I’m predicting Sims has one of his better games running the ball. If he throws more than one pick we’re in trouble. We really need about 150 rushing and 200+ passing. I don’t expect the OL to win the war but they have to at least get in the way. I think our D holds their own unless the O totally stinks. Our TE is going to have to catch the darn ball. NO special team screw ups! There you have it … the keys to being in the game with about 8 minutes to go and having a chance to pull it out. If we win it will be hilarious to watch how the tone will change on this board, it will be plum giddy and talks of a top 25 ranking will take over.

Having Charlie Thomas back for the full game (barring injury or another BS targeting call) will be a huge help. I have no idea what to expect for this game. The next two games are critical - with Ole Miss giving us the best indicator so far of the remainder of the season. A poor showing Saturday, and I’ll be needing to borrow someone’s pitchfork and torch. A good showing or win, and I’ll be hitting ignore on a few more posters.

He made a difference this past Saturday and he made a difference against Clemson until the BS targeting.

We gonna kill Ole Miss

To have any semblance of a decent season (at least 6 wins) we have to go 1-1 the next two games. UCF did not impress me last week. Then we have to beat Duke. Pitt, FSU, & Miami will be tough with Miami being the only one at home. If we don’t win one of those then we have to sweep UVA, VT, & UNC and only UVA is at home. The road to 6 wins will be much easier if we can get a W out of the Pitt, FSU, or Miami trio. It’s a shame that we can’t even fathom competing against UGA. I realize that 90% of Power 5 teams are in the same boat but in my 65 years as a GT fan only one time did I feel we had no chance and that was 1981. Even the 80 team was competitive against the national champs. We’ve been at crossroads a couple of times since the Dodd years but with the radical change in college football, the administration has to get on board a little bit and provide a place for today’s upper level athlete. Like CPJ said, some of those big DL’s are not EE majors.

Right. They're BEGGING the public (you) to make that bet.

So where do you think the sharp money is?
Vegas odds makers are geniuses. Absolute geniuses. Of course I'm the betting public taking Ole Miss -14 here which implies I've fallen for the trap. Having watched our team play now for two games though... how can we possibly keep it within two scores? I just dont see any outcome other than a 20+ point drubbing.

Edit: perhaps Vegas is banking on a backdoor cover where GT gets a garbage score against the reserves on the last possession of the game?

I think the line is 16 now …. so at 14 too much money was taking Ole Miss and giving the points.

16 is about right. I am in the 17 point area. The issue is, we could come out and smack Ole Miss, in the mouth and play a sound game and win. At the same time, we could throw INTs and fumble all over and lose by 40. It's hard, when you have such a Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde type team. I am going off the fact our D is slow and poorly coached. I think we'll give up 45 to them.

What constitutes a good showing?
Was getting beat by 31 in the end by Clemson a good showing?
Put me on ignore now then.. Because I don't care if Clown runs the f'in table, I don't care to see him coaching Tech in 2023 or beyond.

Pretty much how Vegas sets points, to pretty much guarantee a house profit. Too many folks start betting the GT spread the odds change to favored us more. Vegas don't care who wins. Just need to get folks betting both ways.

We all knew we were going to get beat up by Clemson. Ultimately that game meant nothing this year. A good showing Saturday is being in the game both score wise and mentally at the end of the game.
