The ACC Coastal Coach Purge Begins! - Fuentes Out at VT

Hell I’d give him a shot.
I know that CGC worked with him on Gailey's staff. Does anyone think Tenuta would come back if Tech reached out to him? I know he was passed over in favor of CPJ but hopefully he doesn't have ill will toward us.

We need to hire Cutcliffe as a consultant. Can’t imagine that he wants the grind of a full time assistant coach anymore, but he could work with the QBs and be approximately ∞% more effective than Paterdouche.
Any school that is in on Arch Manning will be begging Cut to come on staff.

Gonna be hard to get any self respecting and accomplished coordinator to work under GC. Do you really think Tenuta is going to be down to play kickball at practice, air dunk with players, dance on the sideline when we are losing, and be reprimanded if he yells at players? That doesn’t fit JT’s brand at all

Too many teams will be looking for a new Head Coach next year, Miami fired their AD so the guess is their Head Coach is on bought time. I see no way that we can fire CGC now ( which I'm not of him) unless the big money people put up the money so now we need to hope we can turn thing around or .................

Three years ago, I would have said that Mullen was a slamdunk hire for any team. I would have taken him here. But man, those wheels fell off the bus down there in GVille.

Thanks for the reminder, was gonna go back and watch the Samford game but almost forgot. That and the Texas one should improve my mood. Really rooting for that Kansas coach.

Obviously the OC and DC would choose the position coaches. The only one that we can't afford to lose is Choice. We need to find more guys like him.

Brent Key is problematic. We can't pay 600K for that catastrophe on the OL. And at this point he is not recruiting worth a öööö either. He either takes a big pay cut or he fails upward to OC. It is possible he could be a better OC than he is a position coach. I would rather see if Godsey would like a shot.

If I was doing this on the cheap, and we have to start recognizing that we have to do this on the cheap, I would of course not spend $4million on a HC. Frankly, I personally would promise the HC position to Choice at $500K. I would find coordinators at a decent MAC school or DIV2 (or like how mac/Div2 schools do it) and pay them something similar. I would take the $5 million saved and I would hire 30-40 ex-coaches as consultants. The focus on the official position coaches would not be so much coaching as recruiting. I can hire good football minds who know all there is to know about technique and schemes etc but that suck as recruiters to "consult".

I like it. I realize Choice has no head coaching experience; but at this point what damage could he do even if he is in over his head. Maybe hire O'leary as a consultant/mentor and give Choice a few years to figure it out like we did Curry in the early 80's. I like the idea even if it requires boosting Choice's salary over the $1m mark.

If TStan would go this radical, I would give him some grace to work it out too.

His time as OC at UCF suggests that he is not a better OC than the poor job he is doing as a position coach.

Why would Godsey leave being a co-coordinator in the NFL for a college gig that isn't the head job?

I think Tenuta will work anywhere, hell he is a UVA alum and worked at VT and let his son go there lol
