Losing your top 2 WR’s is a huge loss. No other way to spin this. From a continuity standpoint, King has great chemistry with both WR’s. Singleton going was expected, Rutherford was not. This isn’t a simple plug & play in this regard. GT has very little experience and depth now on the outside. That will be tough to quickly build in the Spring & Summer through practice.

The most experienced WR now is Stockton with 15 receptions, followed by Canion with 3.
I can definitely spin it differently. WR’s are a dime a dozen. OLines and QB’s are what win games. I predict our WR’s will be every bit, if not more, productive than what we saw in 2024. The wide receiver position is all about getting the snaps. Other players will now get those snaps and put up numbers. Go look at our WR stats and you’ll see it all about snaps.

Then again if they got the same number of reps as Singleton and Rutherford I am sure their numbers would look significantly better.

You’re looking at stats only, while also forgetting why the WR combo now exiting were targeted so much. The WR room is not as simple as you’re making it out to be. Look at Clemson, uga, etc and the struggles they’ve had in the passing game. It’s no surprise Clemson’s O isn’t as good as it was with Lawrence, etc, because they don’t have the good to great WR room now.

We’ll see. While I may be over blowing the impact losing the WR duo, I think right now you’re underestimating the potential impact. Only time will tell. I definitely would have preferred playing GW before Colorado to start the 2025 season.

You follow the NFL at all?

It’s also plausible that Malik is looking at what the new guys are getting — for instance, a certain new HS kid that’s never played a down in CFB.

For the sake of an example let’s say Malik is getting $100k. And he’s looking at what he’s brought to the team in real action. He asks the staff for more — because that’s what every player — and coach — does: They do their job under that agreement, then they ask for more because they feel “undervalued” now.. for doing their job. Did Coach Key not just do this and what was his increase in both percentage and raw value?

As many of us experienced once you’ve set your value with a company/organization it’s very hard to just be paid more. So- you move to a different company. And that’s what Malik is doing.

CFB is the same thing we work through, except for exponentially more dollars, with much higher inflated egos in play, and in a system that has no particular accountability.

Let’s worry about 2025 starting next Saturday after the Birmingham Bowl.

I’m concerned for the Vandy game. We’re going to be having tryouts for receiver on Monday before loading the bus up.

Does anyone know if Chase Lane is playing?

Wonder if Rutherford was waiting to see who we brought in.
That really does not make any sense to me even though the timing makes it seem that way. He was WR1 here and he was not at risk of losing that. His chemistry with the QBs was real. Oh well. I do wish him well; same with Eric. I hope they don’t regret this. But they won’t get natty ring next year. Maybe Haynes will let them see him tho.

Because the players are professional.

We are in a weird era now where some players will opt to stay in college because they will make more money from NIL than they would on a NFL practice squad. Heck, there are probably some cases where becoming a NFL rookie might be a pay cut.

Seems plausible. I just hope maybe we end up working something out and he comes back. Wouldn’t be our first player to enter the portal and return.

Haynes King made WR's look good because DB's had to respect his running ability.

You guys need to settle TF down with this end of the world stuff. The WR's we have look damn good, Canion and Stockton and the additions have solid stats. The TE room also looks damn good.

And Canion is 6'4" and 215 lbs
