Transfer Portal Tracker

Not sure if I'm over sharing. Mods can delete if so. Malik asked Brent for $1m. We used that to convince philo to be our program qb going forward and retain Jordan van de berg (all conference DT).

Plus - Brent really likes the young receivers in Canion, Bailey Stockton, etc.

The fiu guys are good. Rivers was named 3rd team all American and finished in the top 10 in every single major receiving statistic.
I actually really liked what I saw out of Stockton. I would be less worried if our only lose was Singleton OR Rutherford. Losing both stinks but I tend to agree. These G5 stud receivers usually translate well in the portal.

Malik needs to go retake Econ 1101 and pay attention to supply and demand if he thinks Philo and Van den Berg getting paid means he gets the same things. Receivers grow on trees as evidenced by how we have done in the portal. QBs and all conference DTs do not.

I've seen reports that Auburn offered Singleton over $1M. How does that fit into your Econ 1101 analysis?

Rutherford quit on the team. Singleton quit on the team. Height quit on the team.

The biggest worry will be chemistry and continuity with King -- we start off with a tough road game next season and one spring and fall of practices isn't the same as having gone though multiple seasons together.

Not to poke holes in the rumored $$$ amount here, but I don’t buy for a minute that the backup QB and a DT are getting that amount of $$$ over what 2 high level WR’s were asking. I’m sure they are getting a nice package, but to let your now #1 WR walk may come back to bite this team next year.

The real issue I think both WR’s probably had as it relates to staying is the rumored contract amount GT is giving to a HS signee with “potential” to be good in CFB. The amount of hits vs misses of the so called “can’t miss” prospects from HS to CFB is less than 50%. But we’ll see how it all plays out.

Singleton has game breaking speed and is bigger. Rutherford is smaller by 20 pounds and isn't the burner Singleton is.

We have had no shortage of receivers like Rutherford. His biggest asset is as a glue/locker room leader and he has lost that with this little move. There have been 1 or maybe 2 irreplaceable receivers since I have been watching Tech and CJ is it (or one of them). Bebe would be the other had he been in a different offense. Singleton is at the fringe of that based on elite speed.

Whole heartedly agree with the first part. I disagree with Singleton being fringe irreplaceable. Singleton is a nice player, but he is absolutely replaceable. Brown, McCullum come to mind immediately. Again I’ll keep saying, you trust Singleton getting the ball on 4th and 10 with game on the line (consistently)? I’m not talking about a straight line go route in man coverage. I’m talking find the sticks, make the catch, take the hit, maintain possession. I never did.

I agree with you. Singleton is replaceable. Fringe was the wrong word for my point. What I was trying to say is that the only thing that sets him apart from the long line of short quick guys who can catch is his elite speed.

did anyone see how badly Tulane did yesterday ?

That’s gonna be us in Birmingham I’m afraid
I hope I’m wrong
If it’s really all business now
Then either cancel bowl games or contract these players and get some of the money back

Vandy seems just as bad as us though, if not worse. They have fifteen players, including starters on both lines, who have entered the portal already.

I don’t know anything about Tulane or what they did in their Thanksgiving bowl game, but huh? Outside of a couple of shiny toys, the core and identity of this team (OL QB RB) are all here on offense. No significant losses on defense outside of Height who was non existent for all but last three games.

Got it. I don’t say this to trash Singleton, as again I don’t blame any of these kids for trying to max out their income if that’s what they value most. But, the reality is that it Singleton’s not dropping critical passes over the middle of the field, his elite speed was taking him out of bounds down the sideline. We will be fine.
