Tucker Gleason Leaving

I just saw what appears to be the largest group of film of his. Good luck to him in his next stop but...yada, yada, yada...we’re lucky to have had Sims this year.

He had a stellar Jr. year that earned him a lot of offers, including a uga offer that was reportedly legit. He had a statistically horrendous Sr. year behind some atrocious line play, but perhaps there was more to it than that. His senior film definitely lacked highlights as he only threw a small handful of TD passes.

I can give you the quick inside story. Tampa Plant HS is a traditional power and TG's junior season was just another successful year in a long string of great years for the program. Then 2019 season hit and that team didnt have the usual transfers in to reload and suddenly the OL went from dominating to horrible. To make matters worse, the coach was suspended for most of the year. It got so bad they called up a bunch of JV kids to try and shore up the OL. To add to the disarray, Plant HS was still playing a championship level schedule so D1 talent versus their JV-level OL was a predictable disaster. In fact, it got even worse in 2020 with all their best remaining kids transferring out. I've never seen a power house program like that dissolve so quickly and dramatically. The local HS in my area, Palm Harbor U, had not beaten Plant in several decades but destroyed them 24-0 this year. I am so used to seeing 270-300 lb lineman on Plant's line that seeing their tiny OL this year was beyond belief.

So can you just transfer to any high school you like in FL without having to sit out a season?

You can do that is Georgia. How do you think teams like Calhoun got to be so good? They sucked for years until Hal Lamb showed up and started having players magically appear

Not if you played Varsity the prior year.

Couldn't do that when I played. 50 years ago.

From High School to College, changing schools is now the norm. All these parents wanting their kids to pay their bills

Yup. And Gleason dad is one of a kind. Was selling some Georgia tickets in 2019 and he messaged me about them and was astonished I wouldn’t just give them to him after he told me he was tuckers dad

I never sell my tickets, ever. They are free to someone, if I have extras, or go unused. I think I've missed 3 home games in 25 years or so.

Pretty much. I don't sell GT tickets. I don't need the money. If I can't go, a GT fan gets a game on me.

I don't have a 25-year streak, but same philosophy. There's always a taker between family and friends. My only rule is they can't bring anyone wearing enemy colors.

Exactly. I can be good friends with people, but no, you aren't getting my extra to the game to show up wearing Clemson orange.

What about the full scholy? What about the education? What about the GT diploma? What about the fact that Georgia Tech Grads top income compared to all other public colleges? What % of all college football QBs actually make a living in the NFL? Hint: If you can’t get playing time on our current depth chart your chances of collecting 7 figures in The NFL is probably less than 1/10,000. Wonder who is telling him differently.... Mistake. But best of luck to him.

He could have been encouraged to leave by the staff

Regardless of his expectations or whether you should sell or give tickets to Tech fans, isn’t this a potential impermissible benefits situation?
