So Drummond will no longer complete for this position? The roster shows him as a LB now, but I don't remember him moving there.
He's moving when spring ball starts up.

Just wondering about the concensus opinion on this question:
Does anyone think Preston Lyons would gain 1,000 yards in 2011 if he is the full-time starter at BB?

Jerry, I like the "gay" titles....they add a bit of flair to an otherwise straight-as-an-arrow stingtalk forum.

Sims could also play some A back. We just have to get him on the field somewhere.
Not doubting the second sentence, but I would be surprised if he played A-Back.
Also, I don't remember him demonstrating break-out speed, or a long run. Does anybody know his longest run? Would he get more 10-20yrd runs and fewer 20+?
It's tough to say. On the one hand, it seems that he's been reliable and gotten his yards as a back-up. On the other hand, it's possible that defenses aren't stacking up against him as much as they would the starter.

No, but he'd gain 800.
I doubt there is an issue on B Back at all. David Sims is a hoss, very tough to bring down, has a low center of gravity. He will be the main man this year and next. And that is not to take away from Perkins. But Sims started out thick and has a couple of years of getting thicker under his belt.
Lyons had a long TD run against Wake in 09.
Yup, about 31 yards.
In regards to Sims, I know most have been anointing him at B-back, but I really think we would be better served to have him at A-back, and get him the ball in space. That would give us Perkins at the B-back spot, with Lyons as the primary backup. That's been what I've envisioned ever since it was announced that Sims was changing positions.

I don't understand your point about Sims beating out Perkins not being a good sign for us. Perkins may be a very good BB. But if Sims is better, than that's who should play.Agreed.
IMO, if Sims can beat Perkins out at BB, then that is not a good sign for us at BB. Perkins was the best RB in the state that year... he should be a very good BB. He should not get beaten out by a converted QB, even a physical specimen like Sims.
I'd much rather have both of them on the field at the same time and have Lyons giving Perkins his breathers.
And for the record, I believe Lyons could come pretty darn close to 1,000 yards, if not reach it.
I am disappointed that we can't have Cox and Dick in the backfield anymore. The double falic was a potent offense.
