UF signee wont report because UF can't come up with their NIL deal

Report the athlete if you have proof he is making signing contingent on NIL money. All you need is NCAA then rules player ineligible. Simple. Player gets no money because he can’t play. Players and their parents quickly learn that to negotiate pay with a school can cost you $$$. So, they negotiate not with schools, but with businesses, alums and fans with no school involvement promising pay,

Obviously big donors will be making arrangements for NIL deals behind the scenes. But, if you keep the schools and coaches out of it the system will actually be cleaner than what we have had and kids get paid, not for playing, but for what playing does to enhance their name, image and likeness.

The NCAA wants control over the $$$. Coaches, especially the ultra successful ones who thrived under the old system, want control. But, this thing could work with simple, easy to enforce rules. Schools and coaches, get involved in the $ and you are on probation and fined. Players, get caught demanding money from the school and you are ineligible.

Pretty sure the NCAA can't touch players at all around NIL (or at the least they won't for fear of losing another court battle), they can only really punish the school for doing it.

Could be, playing with fire to do that with a written contract, though. If that contract is indeed legit.

It wasn't a typo in the contract, it was a recruiting tactic:

" Within hours of his announcement, recruiting website On3 reported that Ruiz had agreed to a $9.5 million deal with Rashada, with Caspino telling the outlet that “Jaden left millions on the table” by passing on an $11 million offer from the Gator Collective. "

gonna guess that the collective meant it to be annual payments not monthly
I think it was just what they said. Monthly. Adds up the reported $11 million that way.

You mean Tech hasn't set up comparable deals for its best recuits?

It seems that reporter is implying they had zero dollars to actually pay that contract. Could the player have sued and won a substantial amount?

I guess he figured it wasn’t worth it if he actually wanted to play football.

Do people think Miami had actual dollars to pay him?

So are gross lies about NIL the norm?

I wonder what the statute of limitations is? Could he wait until is career is over and then sue?

what’s the point of suing? The collective doesn’t have the money. Can’t get blood from a stone.

The contract also stated that the collective can terminate the agreement without penalty or further obligation. So basically it was a $500k guaranteed contract that they could renege on at any time.

Interesting, no commitment to actually playing football is mentioned. If you could lock in this deal and just avoid getting on the field at all, you'd end up with like $10MM with no risk of injury. You wouldn't even need to try and play in the NFL at that point.

Hopefully he could come back later when the collective does have some money and sue them and put them out of business. Lying should have consequences.

They would change the collective to another LLC or whatever. They wouldn’t continue to operate the same entity with such a huge liability.

I wonder how many moron fans will consider themselves an NIL collective and go try to make deals with HS players.

Could this öööö get so out of hand that a high school Senior player gets offered such a deal that he opts to sit out what remains of his Senior year of high school football to 'prepare for early enrollment'? Similar to college players skipping bowls to prep for the combine? Is some Senior who signs a million dollar NIL deal going to risk a potential career-ending injury while playing for the Wilcox County Badgers?

Why do you label that as being "out of hand?" It is a natural and logical progression of NIL. In basketball, for years kids have left "real" high schools to play at factories like Oak Hill Academy. Now they can get paid there.

This Is The Way.

If I understand correctly NIL funds can’t be tied directly to playing football (and especially not at a specific university). That’s why they put that they can cancel any time without further obligations. There’s a written deal and a handshake deal. You wouldn’t get paid to not play.

There is no way that University of Florida recruiters don’t tell possible recruits that there are NIL opportunities available to them if they sign with their school. The fact that the money does not technically come from the University, does not give the recruiter the right to lie to the kid.

uf isnt contractually obligated to deliver those deals and may not be able to enforce their delivery on a booster
