They still have an outside shot at the national title if they can run the table on the rest of their games and Tennessee stumbles. Go into SECC, beat Bama soundly and you are in.

It is obvious that UGA is on their way. All UGA had to do was defend one pass and the game was theirs. The Ole Miss game was an aberration that was played too early in the morning across two state lines. Line them up today in Sanford and it would be a different story. Alabama is lucky they don't play UGA in Athens this year, especially with how Alabama struggled with Kentucky last night and the rest of the schedule so far this year.

Kind of like how UGA made Nichols State look like the high school team that they are?

Please. UGA is a good team like they always are, but they are far from a national title contender. I could name 10 teams that would beat the piss out of them.

Smart could have scored more points against Nicholls, but wanted to stay conservative and win the game in a workman-like fashion. Once it was clear he could just go win the game, he did. Tennessee is lucky there weren't 10 more seconds on the clock.

That's an exaggeration, but I do agree that U[sic]GA fans shouldn't really be upset with the direction of the team based on the start this season. Sad to say the Eason kid looks like he could be the real deal. Hopefully the choking and mistakes that were endemic when Richt was at the helm continue.

Really JJacket? You really think an SEC coach wouldn't be uncomfortable with a W secured with less than a field goal? To a high school FCS team isolated Down the Bayou?

Nicholls had one of the best defensive lines in the country. That much was clear and written about in various blogs and whatnot. Guys straight out of EMCC (as seen on Netflix). They are all pretty much SEC quality linemen on the DL. Kirby still managed to come up with a scheme to counter that defense. It should be noted that Nicholls lost to South Alabama by only one point - a team that beat perennial SEC powerhouse Mississippi State.

And what can be said about McNeese? They must've had good fortune on their side in order to beach Nicholls on Saturday.
 
Surely you guys recognize JJACKET is trolling.

That being said the Dawg Nation is confused. Last week the ones I talked to were upset at being boat raced at The Grove. This week they were literally leading a Top 10 team when the clock went to zero and they are upset again. Do they want to be competitive or not?

The Refs made some bad calls. A lot of tape was sent to the league office.

Good point. Nicholls played like they had nothing to lose. It would have been the greatest upset in football, maybe even sports, history if they had beaten a team with the storied past of UGA. It seems like just yesterday UGA was winning a national title in football. Knocking off a team like that would have put Nicholls on the map

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. They probably won't win more than 9 this year, but I'm pretty worried that next year or 2018 could set up perfectly for them. If we want to get a win, now is the time.
