Unofficial Signing Day thread

I thought the staff recruited a good class of athletes. The young man from Germany would be a project at best and may find success but who knows.
Right now the staff needs to look for another QB and maybe a kicker. I admire GT for what they do as a pure engineering school. I am not sure you
can show me another pure engineering school that even fields a football team.
what's your definition of a "pure engineering" school? cause 95% of these kids are m-train

Four hypotheses on the quote:
1. Johnson offered to keep him on staff but demote him from DC. Roof hasn't decided.
2. Roof has or is interviewing for a job elsewhere.
3. Johnson was just telling a reporter to screw off. He was mad reporters went around him to get info from assistants earlier in the year.
4. Johnson has already decided to fire Roof and just responded poorly to the reporter's question when put on the spot.
5. If he's not coming back then that is his call, because I'm not going to fire him. So go ask him.

6. "Ted's performance will determine whether he stays or goes. His retention is in his own hands, so it's up to him"

I heard that Ted Roof stays at least 15 yards away from Paul
If the other team has a 3rd and 15, my daughter will turn to me and say "they got us just where they want us". I think she'd rather see a 3rd and 3 where they other team might run the ball and get stopped than a 3rd and 15 pitch and catch for a first down.

I agree that Michigan has good academics and good athletics. I certainly admit they have a better football program than we do. (Even though — fun fact — since 1950 we've got more NC than they do.)

But I don't admit that Michigan academics are better than Tech's, and there are plenty of ways that Tech outshines Michigan for a student-athlete. If you're someone who doesn't like the cold, or someone who likes cities, or someone who wants to live/work in the South, or someone who prefers Old Gold to Maize... then we've got a lot to sell. (This German kid may not fit any of those categories; I mean recruiting in general.)

Think about it this way — you've got 6 or 7 days a year when you're comparing The Big House to Grant Field. But there are 358-359 days a year when you're comparing (for example) Detroit to Atlanta. I don't want to give the impression that Tech is an obviously better choice than Michigan — but we're not obviously worse either.

I agree. My only point was not a slight against GT. It’s simply that if I’m a kid with NFL aspirations, and I have an offer from GT and UM, I’m going to UM. Will get an exceptional education but a better chance at nfl.

Ah, Tuitt claimed yet another soul. He is the Shang Tsung of GT football

I for one, am happy for the "loser nerd" that provides info on recruits since it's the only excitement during offseason, but maybe that's just me :dunno:

Good

If you're not planning to fire him, why not just say it? During recruiting you don't want recruits having any doubts about coaches. I don't see a reason for Johnson to be cagey about it if Roof will be kept as DC.

Maybe I missed in in the middle of the pile that this thread has become, if we missed on the two Germans, who are we looking at now? Do we have any targets for the late signing period?

C'Bo Flemister (RB), James Graham (QB), Jamarcus Chatman (DT), Michael Barrett (QB) are some targets

Eye roll. Give me a break man. I love GT for everything it has done to help set me up for a successful life and if I had to do it all over again, I would go to GT again. But your attitude is absurd. There are other great universities who boast great academics with great athletics. Tech is not consistently in the latter category. My point is, how could GT possibly compete with Michigan for the same athlete? They check the academic box as well as we do and they have better athletics (funding, facilities, etc). This is not a slight at Georgia Tech. It’s reality.
It's cold as h@@@ up there
