Unofficial Signing Day thread

I stopped following recruiting after the Tuitt debacle several years ago. Realized it takes a special kind of loser nerd to really invest much time in decisions 17 year old kids make about college. I always hope we can get the best possible kids to come here, but I don't need daily updates about their mood on a given day. I'll read some recruiting stuff right before signing day to see where we stack and what kinds of holes we may be filling, but whatever. You can always bet on us losing a couple of decent kids to factory schools. And how can you blame a 17 year old kid for spurning GT for Michigan? Still getting a world class education but is going to a real football school too. If I wasn't just a fat nerd, and GT and Michigan came knocking, I'd laugh GT off my front door step. iiwii

Ah, Tuitt claimed yet another soul. He is the Shang Tsung of GT football

I for one, am happy for the "loser nerd" that provides info on recruits since it's the only excitement during offseason, but maybe that's just me :dunno:

Eye roll. Give me a break man. I love GT for everything it has done to help set me up for a successful life and if I had to do it all over again, I would go to GT again. But your attitude is absurd. There are other great universities who boast great academics with great athletics. Tech is not consistently in the latter category. My point is, how could GT possibly compete with Michigan for the same athlete? They check the academic box as well as we do and they have better athletics (funding, facilities, etc). This is not a slight at Georgia Tech. It’s reality.
I agree that Michigan has good academics and good athletics. I certainly admit they have a better football program than we do. (Even though — fun fact — since 1950 we've got more NC than they do.)

But I don't admit that Michigan academics are better than Tech's, and there are plenty of ways that Tech outshines Michigan for a student-athlete. If you're someone who doesn't like the cold, or someone who likes cities, or someone who wants to live/work in the South, or someone who prefers Old Gold to Maize... then we've got a lot to sell. (This German kid may not fit any of those categories; I mean recruiting in general.)

Think about it this way — you've got 6 or 7 days a year when you're comparing The Big House to Grant Field. But there are 358-359 days a year when you're comparing (for example) Detroit to Atlanta. I don't want to give the impression that Tech is an obviously better choice than Michigan — but we're not obviously worse either.

Paul Johnson recruit real good
Wow... Clemson has 15 recruits but is #2. VT has 25 recruits but is #3. Clemson is really crushing it these days. Darn you, calculus, darn you.

So if you really have such inside knowledge, it is your duty to your alma mater, to your state, to your country and to everything that is holy, to use your knowledge to help destroy uga.
The most I could ever do was back when I was in school I worked in the mail room for a couple of dollars, stamping out-going mail for different departments. The AA usually sent the most, obviously. And whenever things came through that looked like a tape and was being sent to UGA, I'd always change the zipcode or the address by 1 digit. I don't know what was on those tapes. But if it was anything being sent from my school to that swamp that wasn't a turd in a box, it didn't arrive smoothly. Or so I hope.

This was also during the Chan Gailey days, so it obviously did öööö all. Thanks Chan.

but...but...but...2014!!
I thought it had already been covered on the board that we accept 3-5 win seasons every few years just so we can have a 2014 every once in a while.

Meanwhile, teams like Maryland killed recruiting.

I'm so done with CPJ. He's a lazy coach who's in love with Sewak

We will likely end up around 8th in the ACC when we fill our spots, fwiw. Where we usually are.

I suppose we can just start putting to automatic "L's" on the schedule - UGAg and Clemson. Miami will probably get there. I figure if we can just get to a decent bowl in Nashville or Charlotte or somewhere like that we will start branding the season a success.

You never know. In a few years we will know how good/bad our last 2 classes are. I find it interesting that UGA has the #1 ranked class almost every year yet we play them pretty competitive for the most part. This looks like a good solid class but we shall see.
