USC and UCLA to Big Ten

People are speculating Stanford with ND. Makes sense as a rival and PAC12 is already getting blown up. Getting an ACC school complicates things with the GOR unless more dominoes fall.

None of if it really matters
About 90-100 schools will never be able to compete with the semi pro 15-20 teams that will dominate the other 95 of us into playing the Washington Generals role anyway.

I don’t see how ND doesn’t bolt for the B1G then guessing the door closes after that.

My what a chance we had 10 years ago.
I can't wait to be an old man sitting in my rocking chair telling the youngins what could have been 30 years from now.

The only way this crazy öööö will make sense is if we return home to SEC. We’re a southern team surrounded by SEC fans. Stop being snobs about your academics being in line with midwestern big10 douchebags.

My first choice would be the SEC, but I don't think the SEC has anything to gain from taking Tech. They already have all the exposure and support they need in Atlanta. The only reasons the SEC could take Tech is to keep the B1G out of Atlanta, to add a weak team for all their strong teams to beat, and maybe to make them look a little
Really look at what the grant of rights means for ACC teams. Unless the entire league disintegrates, no one has the money to go anywhere.

Could you make an argument that the Grant of Rights agreement was invalidated by the ACC changing from the structure it had when they were given. Could Tech argue that the new scheduling format, for instance, cost it anticipated revenue? It seems like the Grant of Rights might be challenged by any ACC team offered a place in the SEC or B1G.
Keep dreaming. 90% of folks in Atlanta could not give two öööös about Tech football. Or any college football other than Them Haiy Dwags (and maybe Bama, a little). The SEC ALREADY owns Et-Lanta. Hell, they play their championship game there. What the öööö exactly is adding Tech to the conference going to do for them? Not a damn thing.

As for the Little Sixteen , , , I'm sure all eleventy-seven people who live in Et-Lanta, who went to OSU, and who follow Buckeyes Football might buy a ticket when OSU plays in Et-Lanta. Every tenth or twelfth year. Wow.

The delusionality on this thread is just sad and pathetic.

NONE of these super conferences will want a damn thing to do with Georgia Tech. We're just another of the 100+ college football programs that Do Not Matter. Truth sucks. Bad. But I live in RealVille. Deal with it.

Being a Tech fan has been frustrating to me lately, so it's easy to feel like no super conference would want us. But, we may not be looking at Tech the way The Big Ten does. Tech is an AAU academically excellent school in a major market surrounded by high school talent. If the Big Ten got Tech, it would be the first truly national conference. It would surpass the SEC. That means a lot. The fact that Tech is not winning much right now does not change any of these facts. Does the SEC want to have its rival super conference in Atlanta? If they don't, there's just one thing they could do to stop it. I think there is a stronger argument for Tech getting in the Big Ten than for Clemson, FSU, Miami, UNC or any of these other teams getting into either the SEC or the Big Ten.

I don't think the future of "college" football will be most influenced by conference realignment but by the schools that pay the most NIL money to recruit players. These biggest factory schools will eventually find themselves in their own pro league and then the vast majority of everyone else which was left out of this group will have to figure out what to do from there.

I do think it is crazy for the non-revenue sports to have to make a football mandated conference switch. Are all of the USC volleyball players going to have to deal with a 3 hour cross country flight for every away game?

Should the ACC proactively go to 18? Maybe add Oklahoma State, Baylor, Oregon, and Washington… That’s a decent national conference there. Try to be the 3rd super conference.

Why all the UNC ass-kissing in this thread? For basketball? On the whole, they’re only marginally better than Duke.

JRjr
Because UNC already has a öööö ton more money than us and the SEC has no presence in North Carolina. You underestimate the appeal of UNC.

Yeah we definitely didn’t have the foresight then. Who would have thought that the dynamics of CFB would have changed so much in that time though?
Maybe any forward thinking person. Some folks ability to dress up poor business decisions is outstanding. The minute the BCS was created any person who has followed this sport knew that playoffs were coming and conference realignment. All you guys who are shocked and thought the AP poll would last forever are simply past your time. The days of traditions have been over for a few decades. Money took precedent during the 1990’s. I sure as heck saw it just like I see expanded playoffs above 20 and a couple super leagues ala, AFC/NFC, Eastern Conference/Western Conference, American League/National League. Y’all act like this is just unbelievable. Its the natural progression and GT will be left out because we always make the wrong decision.

Miami is private and plays in an empty pro stadium
Miami has a very rich booster who has stated he will build a stadium his damn self, if that is what it takes. He has already made proposals to do that. Join the SEC and Miami will definitely be building a stadium.

I look forward to being the last alumni alive when Tech won the MNC in both the ACC and the SEC. If we can somehow steal one in the B1G, then I will be the answer to a Jeopardy question.

The portal and NIL are going to turn some schools (hopefully not Tech) into feeder schools where a Bama or an Ohio State parks talent for a year or two to mature before moving up to the Bigs. In return, Bama donates to the Athletic Association there and keeps up the facilities at the feeder school.
