And some coaches are better at coaching other things than the triple option than others. It could be a combo of both...Vad wasn't good at learning the option, and the coaches aren't good at coaching pass plays, QB footwork, etc.

yeah, he only coached a record-setting passing offense. he probably doesnt know much about passing

over 2000 yards passing and 3 QBs with a QB rating over 100 probably doesnt mean anything:

the next year they had over 2200 yards in passing and a starting QB with a rating over 140

the following year the QB rating dropped below 140 but they had 2700 yards passing. but the OC probably doesnt know how to coach passing or know anything about the passing game at all

the next QB had two so-so years with ratings much lower and less yards and then in his 3rd year he went bonkers and had 1500 yards passing and a rating over 145, but coaching probably had nothing to do with it. he probably read a book or looked on YouTube or something...

if you watched Vad in the bowl game, even when he had time in the pocket on designed drop-backs he was jumping around like a flee. if you think the coaches are teaching him to not set his feet, and not push forward and throw off the front foot then you are stupid and cant be helped

if you see a kid that either didnt get enough reps in such a position or just never settled down in D1 football and didnt seem to improve simple things in his technique - thats not coaching, thats the players issue imo

Just looking at their roster they have 3 QBs already on the roster, the smallest being 6'3." The starter 6'4" and one at 6'5." Don't know what they have coming in. That's not really saying anything but I get the feeling Vad may be switching positions unless new coach Withers is planning on overhauling the O system. They have 3 TBs and half the team are WRs. Does Vad play defense?
