Venables or Bust

Guys... calm down, it’s OK!! The truth hurts!! Venables will NEVER coach at GT. We’ll be lucky to get rid of CPJ..

Still waiting on the bet, Diseqc... you probably couldn’t afford it anyways..
No, it's a dumb ööööing bet. He could go to KState but that doesn't mean he's waiting on that job and won't listen to offers.

How about you stop riding my nuts.

I don't want Brent Venables. I want someone with head coaching experience, someone who turned around a smaller program, someone with a history of winning, someone who can recruit in a hard place.

What's sad is that CPJ fit the resume perfectly back in 2007, and in 2009 I thought it was perfect. But I guess nothing good lasts.

If that's your criteria, man that's a tough list to make. Just thinking off the top of my head of guys who fit those qualifications.

David Cutcliffe
June Jones
Jeff Monken
Troy Calhoun
Matt Rhule
David Shaw
Tim Murphy

David Cutcliffe – Great coach, but too old
June Jones – Definitely too old
Jeff Monken – No problem with that
Troy Calhoun – Record is pretty mixed
Matt Rhule – No problem with that
David Shaw – Sure, but why would he come to GT?
Tim Murphy – Interesting idea. Would be willing to consider him. Why did he leave Cincinnati after finally turning the program around?

If he wins seven games and one of them is Georgia, he will be.

Yes. Of course, if he's beating one of the best teams in the nation consistently, he'll probably be winning more than seven games anyway.

Venables can out-recruit and out-coach CPJ. Even at Tech he would be pulling in better talent and producing better results.
