Vote for Haynes King

I can't remember if Nesbitt ever played under Chan, but he was definitely recruited by him and then made a name for himself under Johnson. Do you not call him a real QB either?

They’re all “real” QB’s, but it’s apples and oranges. Objectively, what I’m saying isn’t difficult to understand. I think you guys are just bothered that I’m resurrecting what was the prevailing sentiment of most football fans at the time. Look I enjoyed the wins too, and half the time it was fun to watch, but I’m glad it’s in the rear view.

I am surprised that you even consider Godsey, since under O'Leary, Friedgen ran the option all the time --- not the Triple Option, but a real option-oriented offense nonetheless

He did play under Chan. Because if I recall correctly, Chan chose to blow his redshirt to run wildcat a couple of times. (Remember, different redshirt rules back then). Paul should have had one more year with Nesbitt at the helm…

It seemed more like a highly vocal minority than a "prevailing sentiment" to me. :dunno:

That’s bc you can’t look at it without bias. No one likes to acknowledge that the football world saw Tech as a novelty or curiosity that was sometimes entertaining but never quite on par with everyone else. From the kicker to the coach everything and everyone came with a caveat.

The issue is that you said Paul Johnson never had a quarterback, and then you compared Justin Thomas to a wide receiver playing kick returner.

If you had just said that it was apples and oranges from the beginning, and Haynes King is the best modern quarterback or passing quarterback in 40 years no one would care. Most would agree.

But instead you seemed to really wanted to specify that you don't even consider them quarterbacks, which obviously seems pretty insulting when talking about some players who were fantastic quarterbacks for Tech.

You’re a douche and always hated Paul Johnson’s teams for unknown reasons. Shut the hell up.

I don't think it should be a vote. Disfavors schools with smaller fanbases and prone to abuse

That was pulled straight out of your ignorant anus with no attempt at accuracy. I’m guessing for dramatic effect?

While I was never a staunch defender of Johnson (eg I never saw the need to counter the frequent taunt of it being a “high school offense”), I happily rode the current when it was working. I also had no issue criticizing his inability to field a decent defense or his recruiting failures from 2010-2012.

But overall I was neither all-in nor all-out.

Blah blah blah shut the hell up you always trashed the teams even during the 2014 and 2016 seasons. You would appear for losses and disappear for wins. Go öööö yourself.

I’m flattered that you paid attention - even if your memory fails you.

Done.

It sure is nice to have a QB worth a damn. It’s been 20+ years.
What a stupid thing for a GT “fan” to say. Nesbitt and Thomas were both excellent QBs. I hope HK eclipses them both, but making this statement after 8 games (and a 4-4 record) is absolutely absurd and telling of your anti-CPJ bias.

Fans like you deserved the GC3 era.

And just to be clear, HK is a fantastic player that we’re lucky to have. No shade intended whatsoever.

Sanctimonious bs.

I'm pretty sure everyone is aware that CPJ's quarterbacks (and offense in general) were mostly one dimensional. But saying Paul Johnson never had a QB is stupid and obviously inaccurate -- Justin Thomas was an incredible QB for us, even if he didn't pass much.

He's listed as a QB, he's taking snaps from the center, he's lined up in front of the half back about a quarter of the way into the backfield, and he's passing the ball regularly (albeit not nearly as much as other QBs.)

I'm sure your point is that King is the best passing QB we've had in a long time, which is definitely true. But it's better to just say that than to basically insult the quarterbacks who played for us under CPJ, two of whom are big fan favorites (JfN and Thomas) and delivered us some of our most memorable wins of that past four decades.

Notes: Haynes King is the third Georgia Tech player to earn Walter Camp National FBS Player of Week honors since 2004, joining Jamel Golden (DB, Oct. 25, 2015) and Justin Thomas (RB, Oct. 29, 2016).
