Welcome AD J Batt

Something Ken of the AJC pointed out in his latest column. Cabrera has given JBatt a position on his cabinet. I don't know if any previous Tech ADs were named to that post, but, as Ken points out, TStan wasn't. To me that's a BIG DEAL as far as administration support of athletics.
I’ll play the devil’s advocate on this one.

If doofus Stansbury was not on AC’s cabinet then I take that to mean the AD is not an automatic member. But now, all the sudden, the AD is a cabinet member?

Pardon me if this seems a bit ahead of schedule.

Now I’m starting to wonder about those smirks in the video.

To play devil's advocate to your devil's advocate, is it ahead of schedule or is it long overdue as being a general rule? Perhaps could judge based on how many other schools manage it.

Im not sure I had a negative comment in there about Batt himself. Just wasn’t all that impressed with the presser and am reserving judgement. Just like I did with CGC when most of the fanbase was bending over after one passable recruiting class.
I wasn’t saying you had a negative comment. I was simply using the lack of negative publicity over the hire (not sure how autocorrect switched hire to jute) is at least positive reinforcement of the hire.

I'm pretty sure the Athletic Director has always been a member of the cabinet. Earlier this year Cabrera held a cabinet meeting at GTRI facilities...Stansbury was there.

I think the question about investments to Cabrera was pretty interesting. His response included thinking through what investments were needed, talking to the Georgia Tech Foundation, etc. The Georgia Tech Foundation manages the endowment, funds for scholarships, etc.

I don’t ever remember seeing Toad pose with his wife and kids.

Apparently Ken did not do enough research, because in 2019 TStan was added to the President's cabinet. So you are partially correct: the AD has apparently not always been a member of the cabinet, but TStan was, although not until 3 years after he became AD. Maybe JBatt being named on day one is what is new.

Not that impressed to be honest. Lack of energy, canned responses, no differentiators. What is sales pitch? I hope it is just an issue of not having started yet and still trying to assess where things stand. Hoping he does a good job...

:crapstorm:
Well he hasn't had any coffee yet! haha

I'm okay with canned responses and an even-keel press conference. These things are generally just to knock out the first time intros and stuff. I didn't feel like he had a sales pitch or anything. I wonder if he'll revive the Todcast.

Maybe he can call it the Batt Signal. I'll see myself out.

Time to step up to the plate sir!
