yeah I noticed that too but the dude got asked basically when we’re joining the big10. Hard to navigate through curveballs like that before your official start date.

I kind of wish he'd responded with "Coach Key is our FB coach. We'll see if that's the case for next year in due time." Just to see the heads explode.

I like what I heard, but in addition to JBatt, I become more impressed with Cabrera every time I hear him speak. Before last month, I just thought he was another stuffed shirt talking head. He really shows enthusiasm, and, what with his reaction to soccer someday being added, he showed he has a sense of humor too.

Completely agree. I haven’t felt this positive about Tech athletics in a long time. The wrong presidents have always been our problem. The right one can get Tech back into national prominence. He actually said athletics success is on par with research etc at the Institute. My head exploded a little. I think this is the guy. Everyone else’s success will flow down from how serious Cabrera is about competing.

Honestly, that was my take away as well. A lot of filler dialogue in there. Cabrera said about ten times that Batt was “the perfect candidate” but I don’t think I heard a single reason why he thought that.
Same thing with Batt. Kept joking about “finding the coffee first” instead of any kind of ideas when asked about vision.

And his time at Maryland…wasn’t that when they were kind of forced to jump to the B10 because their AA was in such disarray that they were financially defunct despite having Under Armour in their corner? Their AA was a laughing stock back then.

Hopefully it works out. I’m really hoping we didn’t just see “Alabama” on his résumé and jizz our pants.

There are multiple ACC schools with strong motivation to eliminate the GOR.

A lot of folks outside of Tech have praised the jute and J Batt himself. I haven’t seen one negative comment about the guy other than on this forum.

Im not sure I had a negative comment in there about Batt himself. Just wasn’t all that impressed with the presser and am reserving judgement. Just like I did with CGC when most of the fanbase was bending over after one passable recruiting class.

Something Ken of the AJC pointed out in his latest column. Cabrera has given JBatt a position on his cabinet. I don't know if any previous Tech ADs were named to that post, but, as Ken points out, TStan wasn't. To me that's a BIG DEAL as far as administration support of athletics.
