Wesley Walker to the portal

Not to diminish Wesley Walker or anything but Kelly Quinlan's comments refer to the coaches thinking he actually regressed last year and had a worse season than he did in his first 2 seasons.
And....maybe why both secondary coaches are gone?

Right, so how much of said coaches thinking he regressed is actually something specific to Walker? Or that couldn't of been reversed with new coaching?
Also did Quinlan say which coaches were thinking that, was it the ones who were let get?

Damn, three in Athens. One with the best talent we have had in decades at GT - thanks to Chan. The others because we had a freak athlete at QB.

Jesus folks, the option isn't coming back. Get over it.

FWIW, I didn't want Chan fired, but I don't cry about it on every thread.
BItches gonna bitch. That’s what makes them bitches.

No, and he wouldn't call out a coach like that or he'd lose the ability to get comments from them.

As far as the regression, at some point the players have to own the fact that coaching teaches you how to do it but you have to go do it out on the field. Last I checked, Thacker wasn't the one telling defenders to let their receivers get 10 yards behind them because of poor eye discipline.

And, if Walker's problem was the coaching, and those coaches are gone, then wtf is his real reason for leaving?

Might it be that he thinks he's going to not have a starting job with the new transfers taking his spot?

I thought he had a chance to start. Was one of the best tacklers on team. Not that fast but had one skill. it seemed. More than some others.

Losers gonna lose. They don’t mind it much. It’s what makes them losers and also makes them everyone else’s bitch.

Here’s my take. Our experience in the secondary increased in 2021 but our performance as a unit declined. That is likely not an indictment on the players. That kind of suggests that our opposing staffs completely figured out our simple simon game plan and schemed circles around it.

There is just so much going on here - it’s tough to separate fact from the unsubstantiated but likely.

That's what 3 years of 3 wins does to a fanbase. Failing to meet a 1 FG threshold for the first time at home in 60 years was truly awful.
We were actually close to it several times under CPJ. Clemson 2016 comes to mind

Oh I agree. I remember being relieved a couple times when we squeaked in a late TD or FG against a 4th string Clemson team or something. But my point is that that is still a very low bar to clear that we have missed more than once under CGC.

He's headed to Tennessee.

LOL @ Stingtalk's reaction. Great look back.
Tennessee lost a lot of experience to graduation from last season so being able to add a guy like this who also has 3 yrs eligibility makes sense.

I would be curious how many of these transfers with extended eligibility are leaving now, in anticipation of a coaching change after the season.

Add to that list Juanyeh Thomas.

The rules were changed several times over his tenure including after 2016. Each time the rules were changed, the TO became less effective.

Every year gt's recruiting budget and coaching salaries fell further behind
