White-Out

White doesn't suite me, I'm in a quandry.

Tell you what RM, us big guys can all get together and take a trip down to the tent and awning shop sometime in the next few weeks. A nice bright white (or for the less virtuous amongst us, "hussy white") vinyl tarp and you'll be the bell of the ball.

LOL

I support the team and show spirit by spending a bunch of money, yelling til my throat is sore, experiencing vast emotional swings with every single play, throwing things around the living room if I'm at home, inventing new curse-words if there's a bad call, and having my day ruined if we lose, and coming on these boards in case some freak out there has some new information, like whether our second string right tackle's mother won church bingo. In fact, the reason I am AGAINST the white-out is BECAUSE I care so much and have so much spirit. Hell, I wear white to some games anyway. This isn't about whether it's good for me. This is about whether it's good for the team. So if you think I'm not a real fan, you can just go straight to Hell.
I didn't say you weren't a real fan, and I wasn't replying specifically to you. I just don't get why some are against it.

Give me a f'n break people. Just wear white at the damn game. It's no different than wearing gold at every other home game. It's not about intimidation or looking cool, it's about supporting the team showing school spirit. If you're not going to wear white then keep your lame ass at home.

But we don't all wear gold at every game, especially in November. That's the problem. In November, especially at night, it is ALWAYS half gold/half navy. You know what we should do? A navy-out. Almost EVERYONE has something navy and warm, while lots of people don't have white/gold warm stuff. Plus we could have busted out our navy blue unis, which I think look pretty great.

Y'all enjoy this fashion thread. Let me know when you decide what cotton/poly mix we have all been assigned. I'll be on one of the FOOTBALL threads....

I agree. It's easy to do a white out when it's warm out. It's not going to be warm in mid November at a night game. Dumb dumb dumb

Yeah because it's so much warmer when they do whiteouts at Penn State. And now that you mention I dont think I have ever seen a white sweatshirt or jacket in my entire life...

besides we all know you can't wear white after labor day!

stupid stupid DRad

Every argument I've heard against the white-out is just stupid, plain and simple.

My point stands

When are people going to take off the gold colored glasses and realize that WE'RE NOT PENN STATE? Hell, following that logic, why try to sell more season tickets to people? I mean, the 90k+ seats they sell out at Penn State every game are sooo much less than the number of seats we have.

Guess what? Every school's situation is different. The fact that Penn State can get their fans to white out the stadium in cold weather doesn't mean we can. I know we would all like it if it did, and everyone on this board is willing to for the good of the school, but that doesn't change the fact that a big number of the fans won't. You have to look no farther than the color of our stadium during a U[sic]GA game to see that our fans are just not like the fans of some other schools, such as those of Penn State. Yes, I realize there are many reasons for this, and many of them valid, but that doesn't change the fact that it's true.

The point isn't that we are or aren't Penn state. The point is that people are touting the potential cold weather to be something horrifically damning to the white-out. Last I checked, Pennsylvania is fairly colder than Georgia.

It might not be horrifically damning to the white-out in theory, but the actual white-out is created by the fans, and the cold(even a warmer cold than in PA) will be horrifically damning to OUR white-out because most of our fans a) will not be willing to sacrifice comfort to do the white out; and b) own mainly navy-colored cold weather Tech gear, which I would guess is in contrast to the fans at Penn State.

Hopefully I am wrong. I will certainly be there in white and will try to make sure my family wears white as well.

Like I said, if the temperature is what keeps people from doing it, then I will be fully ashamed of our fan base. There are more than enough options out there to work around the cold.

I trust DRad and whatever he may have in mind... But I hope you're wrong but I think it is a lot to expect from a quasi-committed fanbase.

Tell you what tcj. As one who has been going to GT games at home and away and supported the team when they were so bad that they lined up on the wrong side of the ball, lost in every way imaginable, and were lucky to get a half-full stadium at BDS; as one who has been supporting the team and showing "school spirit" for a long time, most likely before you were born; and as one who spends a substantial amount of money just getting to the game and back home again not to mention tickets, parking, AT, Roll Call etc, I will wear what I damn well please to that game and any other game. If you don't like that then you can keep your lame head up your lame butt (where it apparently is) so you won't have to look at me.

Have a very nice day.

What a die hard! You cant even throw a white shirt on. Man you really support your team I tell you what. After that rant you just went on saying how much you spend and care it makes it hard to beleive it because you cant even expend the effort to put something white on!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you dont come to the game! Stay at home. You obviously dont care about GT. You cant. It is impossible to care and be proud about your team and say that you will wear what you damn please. That is why GT fans are punch lines around the country!!! Other schools cant wait to participate in school spirit and try to make the best environment possible!!!

NO NO NO not tech "fans". They *itch and complain about "HAVING" to wear white. Fans like you embarrass me to be a tech fan. Dont wear what you want to wear. Dont come to the game. I would rather have 20000 tech fans wearing white than have 20000 fans in white and 30000 half ass it.

GET A CLUE!!!!

You know why we cant do gold outs and white outs because you dont participate. You are the one that fans get mad at for not wearing the color! Do you not get that!?!?

I bet you supported Gailey

Why don't we just start a running tally of those who oppose this measure of school spirit....I'd like nothing more than to point out how big a bi*ch these people are for everyone on this board to see.

You are an idiot.

I like the idea and am excited to do it, but the original question is can we make it look like Penn State's White-Out and the answer is no. There are too many people that either don't care or just simply aren't in tune with what's going on.

Doesn't Penn State hand out the shirts at the gate for white outs?

This argument is stupid. This is supposed to be something to get the team pumped up. To remind them that we're here and will support whatever is promotion the program puts on. I don't understand what the big deal is. Why would you not wear white to a white out game? Quit whining and saying we can't pull it off and go get some white so you can do your part to show that we can. To show that we actually have dedicated fans too. You may not agree with these white out things, but you support our program and this is going to make the program happy, so why would you not do it? Not for me, not for anybody on this board, but for the team that is the reason that we are all on this board. How crappy will it look to CPJ and to the players if we prove that we won't even do this for them?
