White-Out

Well then let me give you the compressed version with clearly enumerated ideas:

(1) Nobody ever said they refused to wear white because they didn't care enough about the team.

(2) The people who have been dubbed "protesters" are only raising questions whether the white-out is a good idea.

(3) Those who cannot handle this without getting their panties in a wad and making the same lame joke about Labor Day over and over and over and over again probably belong in a place where the voicing of objections is more restricted, such as China, Nazi Germany, or The Hive.
Wasn't that way easier and more legible?

1) I never said anyone did...I think it's dumb that people are complaining about wearing white period, regardless of their support level for the team

2) Do they have anything better to do with their time than complain about fashion?

3) It was a lame joke. Panties are not wadded, however.

This whole thread is Tech fans in a nutshell. Too damn analytical to just do something because it might actually be fun.

Okay, I'm finally convinced. Having a "white out" is the most awesome thing I have ever heard of. It is going to look SOOO awesome. It'll really prove a point to the nation about how awesome Georgia Tech is. It won't look like we're a year late joining in a trend that was stupid to begin with. No sir. It will be so fresh and original! And effective too. And those Miami players, whoa boy, they better be ready. It will be so much harder for them to perform when they look up and see all that white. And our team will finally figure out that they have fan support! Obviously, the fact that I already come to the game, spend hundreds of dollars, cheer my ass off and sing the fight songs isn't enough for our team. All this time it has meant nothing. They have been assuming all along that I did that for the benefit of the other team. And recruits? Look out Notre Dame and USC, your committed five-stars are setting sail for the White Out Zone. Wooooooooo! White out baby! We're SO FREAKING AWESOME!

Seriously, I don't get what the big deal is. We're encouraged to wear gold at every home game. Most fans do. Some wear white, some wear navy. No big deal. The team will be wearing all white for this one home game and we're encouraged to do the same. What's the problem? What am I missing?

Here's what you're missing: It's a tired, stale, pathetic, mutt-like attempt to generate enthusiasm. It's Hawaiian shirt day at the office. It's the douche-bag wearing fifty strings of beads on Bourbon Street. It's the person who still uses the punch-line, "that's what she said" at every opportunity. It's just stupid. It's what I would like for Georgia Tech football not to be.

That douche bag wearing 50 strings of beads has a much greater chance of seeing 50 sets of boobies than does a person wearing only 1 or 2 strings of beads... I call it optimism and I call you a hater...

That's your reason? It's stupid? Please. Since when is wearing you school colors stupid. You see a Nebraska game, the fans look like a sea of red, been that way for years. Go to a Clemson or Tennessee game, fans wear orange. This is no different.

What you said about Nebraska and Clemson and Tennessee is exactly why it is stupid. I mean, Tech football is Tech football. It has its own traditions that we can have pride in. So we don't all wear exactly the same color all the time. Big deal. Circulating a memo and trying to change all that for a game and have everyone wear white is just lame and unnecessary. It's a whole lot of nothing. It would be as stupid as if we built a hill and had the players run down it and rub Bobby Dodd's Rock. Or if Nebraska had a corn farmer ride a horse to mid field and throw a flaming spear. We are Georgia Tech, we have a 1930 Model A Ford, we have TWO world-class fight songs, we sound a big loud whistle, we sing the Budweiser song at the end of the 3rd quarter, and we say "To Hell With Georgia." But now we need to circulate a memo and be color coordinated too? For what? Because some other teams did it? Because it will be so awesome? Please.

i really don't know what all the complaining is about. The AA and coaches want us to do it. We are supposed to support them so if you have white wear it. Its that simple not that hard to grab white instead of another color if you have it and put it on. Quit complaining and do it or sit your aces at the house and watch it on tv.

Let's all have a FLAME WAR!!

This thread should be closed by a moderator for stupidity.

I'm not complaining. I'm making an observation. I have white Tech shirts. I know how to wear them. Nobody will respond to what I am actually saying. They respond to some sort of straw man who apparently is requesting instructions on how to comply with the white out.

ME: I'll participate in the white-out, but here's my opinion about it....

YOU: It's easy, asshole! Just get a white shirt and wear it!

Agree with the poster who says the thread should be deleted. The whole thing is dumb enough to be on Dawg Vent. Well, it would have especially good grammar and syntax for a Dawg Vent thread.

Ok. Whatever. Wear what you want, I don't care. My friends and I will be in white cheering the jackets.

By the way, one of those fight songs (white and gold), we stole from Cal. Where do you think battle axe came from? Stanford-Cal. Budweiser song, Wisconsin does that too.

Actually, I have responded to what you're saying. Your opinion is irrational/stupid.

So let me get this straight. Since Tennessee and Nebraska and other schools can all wear their school colors at a game, if we try to do it, we're copying them? Alright then, in that case, we must be copying Rutgers and Princeton University for actually playing a football game against another school. You see what I did there?

For some reason, you have this notion that we're trying to steal some grand tradition from someone, when we aren't. No one here should care who did it first, who does it better, or whatever. The only thing you should care about is doing it for the team. It isn't and never has been about copying someone. It is about creating atmosphere, the single greatest thing about college football. It's about unity. School colors are just as important to Tech as the traditions you listed above. However, when we try to get everyone to wear one of our school colors, it's pointless? Where is the sense in that?

Hypothetically speaking, if there was a significant movement to get everyone to start verbally singing the fight songs (Most people just clap/shake pompom in time rather than sing) would you feel the same way? I mean, Tennesse sings Rocky Top, Virginia sings their fight song after every score (if you've never witnessed/heard this, thank whatever deity you worship...) Would you think that we were copying off of them? Again, the point that I'm trying to make is that you are making this whole thing out to be something that it just isn't. This is about Tech, and no one else. Did they do it before us? Probably. Does it matter? No. You should still support your school.

Funny you say the thread should be deleted since you have posted at least 10 times on this one thread, so obviously it has some importance to you

My problem of what to wear still hasn't been solved about what too wear, I did like the boss hog picture though, it's a thought.
