Who do you want as next HC?

The O doesn't hurt the D the D hurts the D. Lack of size and athleticism at DL and LB. The guys behind them aren't bad but look like crap because of the DL and LB. Borderline athletes mixed with one of the most passive defensive schemes in the conference is not worth watching.

No the O hurts the D. Our D doesn't practice against anything like the Os they actually face.

We did technically have Dwyer, Choice, Bebe, Burnett, Morgan, MJ, Daryl Richard, and Vance Walker on the same team in 2007. Gailey recruited better than Johnson -- he just couldn't produce a QB, hire a competent OC, beat UGA, or win more than 7 games more than once. If Johnson recruited at the level Gailey did, this thread wouldn't exist.

The O hurts the D as well. If TM is our best passer then I'm not surprised the D sucks against competent quarterbacks/receivers given what the scout team probably shows them
I don't see the largest problem being down field. I see no pass rush, Duke running for 8 yards at will as issues, missed tackles bad angles. The long pass they had was basically great execution by them, the coverage was adequate. Only way to fix that is getting to the qb. All that is basic and can be fixed no matter how the scout teams play if the players are good enough. Pretty sure the team doesn't do much live but one day a week anyway. We are small and slow at dl and lb. Mitchell has good size but he also runs right by tackles, has trouble covering passes due to speed, and he is about a step late on runs.

We would be perpetual top 15 if we still had the talent that gailey was bringing in.

Maybe we are just getting ready for the football game of the future. Our defense would kill at two hand touch. Tackling sucks.

is alL BS! The reason we can't recruit well is we can't consistently win enough and we face plant too much like today to develop a winning reputation . We may have a good season now and then- but we drown it in 6-7 win seasons that no one is impressed with. In short, if we started not sucking for say 5-6 years in a row our recruiting would improve. You can throw all the cherry picked won loss records you want- but 6 win seasons are not relevant in the college football world. And throw in the yearly abortion game or two and nobody is interested in joining this clown show. Just win!

we have lost all ability to recruit the linebackers that we used to have, and we have always struggled to bring in defensive linemen

This should be stickied.
It’s great to show out in the OB but öööö we follow it up with a 3 win season. Then end last year on a great run and follow it up with this year. And I would take not sucking öööö two years in a row before I’d get greedy and ask for 5-6

O’Leary had the best three year run over the last 50 years

98- 10-2
99- 8-4
00- 9-3

Consistently, it’s the enigma of GT football.
