So what is the point of Tech football? It doesn’t matter. What makes you think anybody’s going to do better? Tennessee has been through 7 coaches and they’re still bad. Who do you think is going to get better first, Georgia Tech or Florida State? Sit back and relax. It’s gonna be a long, long time.
Words of wisdom, no doubt. He will be here next year. He may be here the year after that. But Geoff Collins’ time at Tech will end and it will end before the 7 year contract is complete. He will not be leaving on his own terms because it is now 100% that he will be and has to be fired.

Those Guys tend to wait for Jobs that pay $4MM and up, maybe $5MM & up.
Waiting for a job like that has a ripple down effect, because your buyout in case you're fired will be 2-3 yrs at $4 to 5MM vs. the paltry wages we pay.
Coordinators are now making 7 figure salaries, at that pay level, they can be a lot choosier and wait for "a perfect fit" rather than taking our Job and only making $2.5 to $2.7MM per yr.
The economics of P5 Coaching has changed , we have to understand these things if we want to improve.
No way Key could be worse.
Could end up better just by getting him away from the OLHis time as an OC suggests, that yes, in fact, it could be worse
I’ll sit back but I ain’t relaxing! This öööö right here, this attitude from a sizable portion of our "fan" base, is why we can't have nice things. Nah, not relaxing but you do you
This is a question I’ve been grappling with for 31 years nowSo what is the point of Tech football?
Don't you put that evil on us!The problem may be that Key is the planned head coach in waiting
Bill Curry is a good man. However, in my opinion, he was not a very good coach. The next time Tech hires another head football coach I hope it is someone who has a proven track record. Our AD, Mr. Stansbury, bought Coach Collins's sale's pitch hook, line, and sinker. He handed over Tech's football program to a middle aged coach with only two years of head coaching experience. And that was two mediocre seasons at Temple. Then, to top it off, he gives this man a 7 year contract!Bill Curry
We’re not replacing him for at least two more years. It's less important who replaces him, than it is to just get the replacement process started.
Yeah, I agree. If Collins is smart, he goes to TStan this offseason and agrees to $1-1.5M salary next year; but the freed up money has to go to recruit a DC. Try to get good on at least one side of the ball, and I think you can fix the D faster than you can install a new offense. Short term he would lose money; but long term he might make it to year 7 if he simply shows improvement on one side of the ball.
I’ve got a bad feeling that Colling might find some stupid way to beat UGAg and then he’s stuck here for 30 more years
But is it worth 30 years of pain and turmoil? I don’t think so.No such thing as a bad feeling pulling off such a monumental and improbable upset against them this season.

Here's the downside, Coordinators now want 3yr contracts, is CGC gonna give that up for multiple years, and if not can The GTAA set that kind of precedent for that kind of pay
