Who will replace Collins?

The problem may be that Key is the planned head coach in waiting
He definitely is/was. Stansbury and O’Leary connection and everything. It’s been obvious what this was from the beginning. The guys who “got it done” were coming in to bring back the glory days.

Go die in a fire

Returns were diminishing. 2019 roster probably goes 5-7 without a change. Who knows after that. 6-7 wins in a good year, maybe.

I would be down to go air raid or something. Not opposed to funky offenses in general.
We can't find OLs to run screen passes and hold their Blocks on play action, and you wanna go Air Raid and have some Games where we pass 60 times per Game?

Where are we gonna find a Center that handle 80 to 90 shotgun snaps in one Game?

It took 2.75 seasons to finally get snapping the ball under control, and now you wanna go Air Raid?

I'm all for it if we can find the Players

I just want a good x and o coach a great recruiter. Is that too hard to ask for?

Nice hypothetical that’s against historical data you got there. Was it upsetting you that we weren’t beating national title contending Clemson and UGA towards the end?

Not at all. It was the losses to the likes of Pitt, Duke and USF that turned me.

Those Guys tend to wait for Jobs that pay $4MM and up, maybe $5MM & up.

Waiting for a job like that has a ripple down effect, because your buyout in case you're fired will be 2-3 yrs at $4 to 5MM vs. the paltry wages we pay.

Coordinators are now making 7 figure salaries, at that pay level, they can be a lot choosier and wait for "a perfect fit" rather than taking our Job and only making $2.5 to $2.7MM per yr.

The economics of P5 Coaching has changed , we have to understand these things if we want to improve.

I honestly wouldn’t have bad feelings handing everything over to Choice. Force him to hire someone very qualified to act in an administrative role.
Me, neither.
All the coaching and leading in the World wasn't gonna prevent #72 from choking and screwing up the snap and then getting a critical holding penalty, snuffing out any chances we had to tie or win that Game.

Just ONE PLAYER, that wasn't up to the challenge is enough to ruin a Team's chance to win.

FB really is the ultimate Team Sport, you have to have 11 Guys executing in order for a play to work.

The truth is on most of our Plays on Offense, we usually have 3 guys that just don't get it done, IMO it's a miracle we haven't lost more Games.

It really is hard to be a GT Fan!
Wut?

[Cause they don’t know of the ineptitude that is the GTAA.
[/QUOTE]
Re GTAA, still can’t blame CGC for taking a 7 year contract, that should have been 5.
This is interesting, we’re in top 20 for something at least, #1 in ACC, from BB though. A quick move on CGC and we could hit top 10.

It doesn’t matter. What makes you think anybody’s going to do better? Tennessee has been through 7 coaches and they’re still bad. Who do you think is going to get better first, Georgia Tech or Florida State? Sit back and relax. It’s gonna be a long, long time.

He will be here next year. He may be here the year after that. But Geoff Collins’ time at Tech will end and it will end before the 7 year contract is complete. He will not be leaving on his own terms because it is now 100% that he will be and has to be fired.

I’d take Key to be the coach tomorrow if I could. I gotta believe several of our coaches get in their car every afternoon and ask themselves what they are doing working for this guy. But, it’s hard to turn a paycheck down. No way Key could be worse.

Yeah. His position unit is far and away the worst but behind chased by the secondary.

Patenaude and Thacker would be overpaid at $100,000.

Preferably someone with defensive coaching experience. We gave up 564 yards of total offense today.

Hate to break it to you; but the current guy was a DC. HC O'leary gave us the leaky Roof defense part 1.

Better question....Collins had the team line up in the old option set for the first play of the first spring game. Will the next coach come out wearing a sleeveless shirt and rip it off midfield hulk hogan style? Give his first interview at an elite level linguistically with the correct catch phrases? There are already bums holding up Waffle House cups all over Atlanta so I think that one would be checked off the list.
