Whos your top 3 RIVALS?

I just don't hear it coming from their side, they probably consider UGA more of a "rivalry" than us, were just an important ACC game

Wow. The two schools which are closest in proximity to us. The other state school 60 miles away and the other 100 miles away.

We are 12-13 against Clemson since joing the ACC and 46-24-2 agianst them all-time.

And that's just in football.

What about basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, softball, volleyball. It's the same in almost every sport.

I can't understand your thinking unless you have an agenda...

Would you rather Tech won a national title, or Tech beat UGA, thus denying them a national title?

I'd rather see Tech win a national title, but inclusive in that is the understanding that any time we win a national title it'll assuredly mean we beat UGA that year anyway.

that's not good the rest of the ACC...we STILL have to fear GaTech. urgh, i hate teams like Wake and GT. they are pretty good, but when they beat you its like "haha, you lost to Wake" they don't get any respect, and b/c of that niether do the teams they beat.

This would be a perfect example of why I don't think that Clemson considers of a major rival, or their Second big rival next to SC, like we do with them and UGA. In order for it to be a rivalry both teams and fans have to see it as such, not just one way. and what agenda would i have on a gt message board. can't i just make a argument about what i see and you make a reply about how you see it?

Yeah, I know that Clemson's one of our top rivals in baseball (the top there, and I already posted on that), as well as top two probably in women's tennis (them and Duke, I'd guess). And it often is a big game for basketball too.

1. UGA
2. Clemson
3. VPI, I guess

To me, there are a few things that really make a rivalry a rivalry.

First, it has to be a team that you play every year. This is why I can't consider Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, ND, etc. rivals. We don't play them often enough anymore.

Second, you have to know a lot of people that root for the other team. I know a ton of UGA fans. Behind that, Clemson is definitely second in the number of fans I know. After them, I'm not even sure. It would probably be FSU, but since we don't play them every year, I don't consider them a rival. One of the reasons we only have 2 real rivals is because none of the other teams we play have a large number of fans in the Atlanta area. There are many more Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, etc. fans in Atlanta than there are Virginia, VPI, or Miami. I think that's the main thing holding those games back from being real rivalries. Those schools aren't close enough to Atlanta for them to become real rivals.

Third, there has to be some doubt as to the outcome most years. Even though we've lost to UGA the last 7 years, most of the games were close, and we easily could have won some of them. That's another reason teams like Duke aren't a rivalry...games typically aren't close with them.

Not only would I take the 1-11, if we went 11-1 and lost to UGA every year, I would consider every one of those seasons a losing cause.

I thought of this hypothetical, and it really has me torn. Would you rather Tech won a national title, or Tech beat UGA, thus denying them a national title? The fact that I (and probably more then just I on this board) have to think hard about this should say exactly how much I hate Athens. I'm jealous of Ohio State, not because they beat Michigan, but because Appalachian State did. You know how happy I would be if UGA lost to a D-1AA school? If Appalachian State beat the Dawgs, I'd probably end my life the next day, as I would never, ever achieve that level of happiness again in my life. Go out on top.

To Hell with Georgia.

This is both sad AND comical.

1- UGA
2- Notre Dame
3- Auburn

(4- Alabama)
(5- Clemson)
(6- FSU)
(7- Tennessee)
(8- UVA)
(9- Va Tech)
(10- Duke)

I really don't think we have three if we are honest about what being a "rival" means.

It is UGA and Clemson. But few hold Clemson in as much contempt as UGA, so it is more friendly rivalry.

Auburn? Maybe long ago. I think they think of us as a rival as much a Michigan considers App State a rival. They are annoyed that we beat them when we shouldn't (in their opinion) but rival?

EVERYBODY in ACC basketball wants to beat Duke and UNC, but that doesn't make them a rival. They have to care, at least a little, before you can call them a rival. Otherwise we are just another team they expect to beat.

(u)ga
Clemson
F$U

I am still pissed about how the ACC was divided. First, it should have been North/South with

South:
Tech
Clemson
F$U
Miami
NC St
UNC

North:
UVA
VPI
Wake
Duke
BC
MD

In football, we had so many good games with F$U that we never won. I have a bad taste in my mouth about that. WE HAVE GOT TO BEAT THEM NEXT YEAR!

Now, teams I hate the most:

(u)ga (goes without saying)
VPI (fake tech school, although I have respect for Beamer & Foster)
NC St. (Julius Hodges - still makes my blood boil to think of his whiney ass)
