Why no Bowl game?

The Army thing doesn't really bother me, that's one of the risks of being an independent. Join a conference and you wouldn't be in a situation like this.

In a way, yes. Think of all the time the staff can redirect to recruiting prep. I think our time is better spent on recruiting since practices are compromised and hamstrung anyway. Who knows for sure but I think there is a clear benefit - not a conclusive loss. Also, the staff may have at least asked the team who may (again, just speculating) have preferred to focus on other things.
 
It did seem like the team was relieved to quit playing and practicing. We could argue that it was a great decision for the health of the players, but that argument could have been used all season. There is some work to be done this offseason to reset the mood within the program.

I don’t care about a bowl this year, but I’d watch if we played. Bowls aren’t a measuring stick for a minimally acceptable season this year, they’re just meaningless exhibition games more than usual for teams that felt like they were in a position to play in them.

We clearly didn’t think we were in a position to play another game, and it seems doubtful that a few more practices were really going to change anything for us. This year sucked and wasn’t much fun as a fan - it had to be worse as a player. I’ve got no problem with just putting a fork in it, regrouping, and trying again next year.

Glad more people are coming around that Collins’ practices as currently constructed are meaningless.
 
Guys, half our QBs were in the portal and Sims was hurt. So, you're down to Yates, then a walk-on. Top two RBs also banged up. Selfishly, I really wanted a bowl but it honestly made no sense to do it.

You would also be having these guys quarantine in a hotel room for Christmas just to salvage a bit of revenue for espn. Flush this year and get after it in 21.
 
I expect all of the players trying for the NFL will opt out of the bowls with the exception of the CFP teams. The risk versus the reward is way out of line.
 
I think the refs needed to take some of the bowl games off. Worst officiated season of all time. Their glasses were all fogged up I suppose.
 
The only question I have is did the players want to play? If not, move on but if they did play the game. Wish we knew...
 
In a normal season, we would play our last regular season game in late November and bowl bids would come out a week later. That gives us a month to deal with injuries before a bowl game most years. But this season, the bowl games start this week, so the coaches knew a lot of the players were not going to be available and made a decision based on what they saw following the Pitt game.
