Well, in fairness he played significant time in 6 games. Three of the four complete games were against top 10 defensive teams in terms of points per game (1,2,9). Not a lot of QBs are going to shine there behind our OL.

Edit: Forgot Yates played BC which looks to be the 4th best defense we played last year.

Yates played bc Sims couldn’t. If I run out of milk and use the powdered version, it doesn’t mean powdered milk is good.

Who gives a flying öööö about where the recruiting class finishes, it clearly has not improved our win total to finish with higher rated recruiting classes. Recruiting rankings are for style points, and style points don't count on a scoreboard. Also most fans don't hate the TO, most fans hate losing. Unfortunately a significant contingent of fans are more obsessed with hate for the TO, so much so that they would rather hire the current goober and lose constantly than see that offense on the field again.

Wrong. Look at the teams which make the college football playoffs every single year. Look at the final top 20 every year Look where those teams recruiting classes finish every year. It’s not rocket science. No reason to even discuss the TO. Georgia Tech will never, ever run that again during the rest of anyone’s lifetimes on this blog. And for good reasons.

When assessing QB performance, you have to account for the defense. Yates played 3 top 10 defenses. That is going to hurt his overall performance. He is solid P5 backup material.

Sims is clearly a better athlete. He has a better arm and is a significantly better runner. He needs to work on ball security and decision making. He was playing like he was still in high school last year. That is on the (previous) coaching staff.

Whatever your opinion on the TO, the part I quoted is true. Everyone is wasting time and effort rehashing it over and over.

Most fans do hate the TO. Only a small, loud vocal bunch of Stats-First dipshits still pine for that garbage.

Weinke and Long need to pull a miracle this year or this improved recruiting you are reporting is going to get the HC fired.

Maybe. Or maybe Sims figures it out in the 2nd half. Maybe Sims finds a way to get in the end zone vs Clemson and we win. Makes no difference now.

Look at other ööööty programs across America. Plenty of other teams suck too - none of 'em are switching to the TO. Because it's crap and kills programs. Ours is proof.

Actually if we were running 3O still, Tobais Oliver would have been th starter and Yates would be taking over for the next three years this year. We would have won the coastal IMHO. However the deciosion to swicth from 3O when Coach Johnson retired is the one we are living out today. Most Coaches now how to gameplan with teh talent they have to geive them the best chance to win.

However If this year asst coaching hires is being done O'Leary style like some have suggested. Then whoever is going to replace Geoff Collins is already on staff just as George O'Leary was on staff when Bill Lewis went down in flames.

I agree the decision to move on from the 3O has already been made. While the school could go back to it, there is no need. Our issues are we hired an inexperienced HC. With the proper coaching staff we should always be able to win 6 games or more. We play in the ACC and Georgia and teh Southeast is our recruiting ground!

The best news is that the AD, GTAA and donors are opening their pocket books for the better assistant coaches, which is a sign for fundraising we do not need to be running the 3O.
