Curious to read your list. Who ya got? Or just full of öööö per usual.
 
At some point more people will likely understand that GT is the problem (the admin) rather than the coach.

This discussion comes up every February. Recruiting is basically the same save an outlier year here or there for the last 20 years.

I don't think it's our offense as much as the perception of life at State U versus life at GT.

GT simply isn't for everyone. No matter how much we wish it was on one day every February.

I think Johnson runs the triple option offense to mask the fact that he is a terrible recruiter. He knows he can win with less talent with it so its actually the perfect offense for a school with a bad recruiting head coach and the academic restrictions he is under.

My hope was that Uncle Teddy would pick up the recruiting on defense and now I wonder if our offense really does affect defensive recruiting as much as they say it does.

What's your metric for successful recruiting? Mine is NFL draft picks. Johnson's no different than any coach going back to the 50s in that regard. I posted the numbers above only going back to early 2000s. There's no magical time period where we fall off the cliff in that regard. Tech has always struggled. Hell, Dodd's luck didn't refer to him being lucky finding NFL star after NFL star. He was "lucky" taking a bunch of skinny, slow, nerdy white boys and finding a way to kick ass. Other than racial makeup - not much has changed since then. Tech is a flash in the pan program. Our recruiting will always reflect that minus some monumental academic changes.

The school is hard to recruit to. Admit it. And re-adjust your expectations accordingly.

Well, there is Brad. Of course, we have also had Thomas, Waller, and Smelter at WR. Those are big bodies. I think we should recruit more TE's to play receiver.
 
We are better off with the TO than without it. It levels the playing field to some extent. Obviously not to the extent that it is completely level though.
 
This is a kick ass offense when the OL is blocking and is fun to watch. If we could just put together a few good years like 2014 more players would buy into it.

The reason ccg recruiting improved when it was too late was because he was forced to fire the guy who, I believed was his R/C. Believe his name was Pat something. Everyone said he was so great because of his awesome sense of humor. Whoopi. We hired someone to replace him, and the results showed with Nesbit. MJ, Morgan, Thomas.

At a,school like GT, we can not afford to have 1 good year and 3/4 bad to mediocre years recruiting.

Have to hire coaches that are better recruiters first. (See Bobby Cremins).

Does the 3O hurt us? On D there is no doubt. On O, it hurts as much as it helps. No O is going to provide magic in and of itself. But we are at a huge disadvantage with the OL coach we have.

The # going to the NFL? Big deal. Your recruiting will be judged by how many we win on Th & Sat.

Got to get better recruiting coaches in FB & BB. There was a time when GT academics was used as a recruiting advantage & not an excuse. Got to get the coaches to do it. And we have added more and more majors that should enhance that ability.

Hell yeah.

The funny part was when we were so good at it by the time Pat Nix had left, that we did it to Miami in 2008. Miami fans sitting near us got really livid. Totally pissed off that everyone around them knew what play they were going to call. It was fun.

"3rd and 5? Oh Miami's in shotgun, which means this is a tunnel screen to the slot receiver on the field side, who will get tackled after a 4 yard gain."

Yeah, dude, the coaching carousel is beating the door down to hamstring themselves at Georgia Tech. Recruiting here is easy, and we don't have to worry at all about being outclassed vs an out of conference in-state rival. It's an obvious winning position.
 
I will build a full CFA on campus if it gets recruits and will let people "borrow" watches.

How much does it cost to become a bagman and who do I contact to get started?
 
This can work for everyone. I'll use my family foundation to funnel money to GT recruits. Tax deduction, helps football team.

I love how many people totally trash the past 7 years over a bunch of unproven 18 yo kids. Nevermind the 3 ACCCGs, one championship, two orange bowl appearances... Yep, our recruiting sucks donkey d@&* because we didn't get any 5 stars this year. LETS CAN EVERYONE and bring in that natty winner of a coach that's beating down our door to come coach at GT. CPJ IS COVERING UP HIS S$@&&Y RECRUITING WITH HIS öööööööY OFFENSE!! GENIUS!!

But, no, I wouldn't qualify. They want to control their franchisees, which includes limiting their income outside of CFA.

Seriously, though, I would be a bagman. I've offered multiple times over the last 2 seasons and no one ever reaches out to me. Lots of money that could go to bag 4*'s are going to legitimate charities instead.

Do we not have bagmen? Seems like that's our problem.
