What are folks thinking about Paul Johnson these days?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

I dont recall our 2008 or 2009 season "cratering"
in the 2nd half. I recall losing Nesbitt in Game 9 in 2010 that made a HUGE difference in how the season ended. I remember 2011 second-half being rough, with CPJ having red-shirted dozens of players, and having one of the youngest rosters in D1.

I certainly remember Gailey's 2006 team crashing and burning BADLY at seasons end...with ALL that talent he recruited. /sarc.

In case you hadnt noticed...

For the past few years, the winner of the GT-VPISU game has determined the ACC-Coastal Champ. The ACC-Coastal Champ has won 4 of the last 5 ACC-CGs.
And VPISU is considered one of the better (best?) teams in the ACC.

The GT-VPISU game is HUGE and a VERY strong indicator of how the rest of the season will go.

We wont end up 7-6 or 6-7, and I am willing to put money where my mouth is.

Since you seem convinced we will suffer a 7-6 or 6-7 season, I would be MORE than happy to wager you $100 that GT finishes BETTER than 7-6 this year.

Money talks and BS walks.

So, whats is YOUR wallet ?

You're a moron and need to learn how to read. I never said we'd go 6-7 or 7-6, but it is within the realm of possibilities. I have consistently stated that I think we'll be better this year, but if not, Johnson's leash will be short.

Last year's 2-5 finish was certainly problematic as is losing bowl games and to Georgia the last three years. I also think Johnson is the right coach for us now, but he needs to quit resting on the 2009 season and a promise of future success. He has his players and his system in now and it is time to see results.

Your jerk way of telling everyone to STHU if they aren't wearing your rose colored glasses and tough boy shtick is just annoying.

I think it's backlash from people who worship CPJ as a God and get pissed when anyone brings up a fault against him. It's easy to come off as being against CPJ when you get into a discussion like that even if you're not.

I think it's backlash from people who spent 6 or 7 years listening to the same retarts being critical of Gailey now being critical of Johnson, using Gailey as a source of comparison in those critiques.

Basically, people are calling bull on comparisons to a coach no one could freakin' stand.

2003 Auburn team was #6 preseason and #17 when we beat them. 2005 Auburn was #16 preseason/when we beat them.

Will you remind me what preseason rank 2008 UGA was?

I'll have to search the poll, all I have are the pics. We played UGA last game so obviously they were not #1/2 then, the Auburn game was the first game of the season.

All I'm pointing out, is Gailey didn't exactly 'suck' and CPJ isn't the prophet. And just b/c someone doesn't worship CPJ, doesn't make them 'dumb', 'idiot', etc that you and M-train keep calling me.

We're all on the same team. I was commenting on the OP.

I heart these "I was the only one..." posts. It's the reason why I want to share a bowl of oatmeal and glass of prune juice with oldfoggy and talk about the days of yesteryear.

I was endlessly mocked for even daring to predict VPISU was going to crap their own bad vs. Clemson
last year. I was also the ONLY one on this board to correctly predict we would start 5-0 last year. That included my prediction that we would drub NCSU,
after most on this board EXPECTED us to get killed by NCSU after the 2010 NCSU game.

GT fans seem to have this mind-set that we cant kick VPISU's azz. VPISU isnt nearly as good as people believe.

It took (2) bogus 15 yard personal fouls for VPISU to beat us in 2008.

In 2009, if Roddy doesnt fumble a bad pitch on the VPISU 15 yard line in the 4th Qtr and we score, its more like 35-17 in that game.

In 2010, we were CURB-STOMPING VPISU until Nesbitt got hurt. It was turning into a BEATDOWN.

Last year, we still had a chance to beat those guys in a close one.

So, no. I dont believe VPISU is "all that."
They're just d*** lucky.

I just shocked at how LAME some on this board sound about the 2012 season.

2012 is going to an awesome season for GT.

Start believing it.

BELIEVING...is SEEING.

Get your d*** minds right !!!!!!!!!!!

completely untrue

Again completely untrue. Without Russel Wilson, no one had any substantial fear of NCSU

THAT ^^^^^ is CRAZY talk.

No way in H*** a 7-6 or 6-7 season is...
"within the realm of possibilities."

If our defense isn't better we could have problems. I believe they will be, but I thought the same last year and 2010. There are at least 6 games on our schedule (VT, UVA, UNC, Miami, NC State, Georgia, Clemson, Bowl opponent) that we could lose. If we lost Tevin and Lee turns out to be a turnover machine, we'd be in trouble.

Because this:

May be the the dumbest thing anyone has ever written on ST

At the very least it ties Yukonwreck's post on the day we hired Paul Johnson that we are de-emphasizing the football program in an effort to become Division 2.

NC State ?!?!

Dude, we dont even play NCSU in the regular season rotation in 2012 !!!!

I forgot we pick up BC this year. I still listed 7 games we could lose against legitimate teams. And I could add BYU to get to 8.

3GT, we appreciate your fervor as a fan, but you are being absolutely retarted right now. I, myself, confidently and loudly predicted that we'd be undefeated heading into Clemson and we'd have Gameday on our campus. That's 8-0. If that doesn't include 5-0 I'll be a monkey's uncle (gold standard!).

And very few of us were intimidated by NCST after they lost Wilson. We were all expecting to blow them out much more severely than we actually did.

I stand corrected then.

I recall being the only one to wager $50 with anyone on the board on us going 5-0.

Ask gsu_paintballer.

120 of those points were in two games against really bad teams.

Ok.

Go back to every other year and subtract the two highest scoring games and see what the numbers look like.

Good luck.

The point was that the two outliers make that statistic meaningless. The fact that we didn't score 30 in 5 of the last 7 games is much more important.

It's this.

There's a HUGE GULF between these two statements:

1) "CPJ is Perfect"

2) "CPJ is far better than Gailey"

Huge.

Lol. It was hard for you to find anyone to make that bet because everyone thought we would go 5 and 0 vs those cuppy cakes.

It seems to me, first of all, from talking to doctors, is that if it's a legitimate bet, StingTalk has ways of shutting the whole thing down.
