If you had a clue I would care but I don't. The president increased admission standards for football players in 2003. It needs to go back to what it was under homer rice. Again what would you know you we're like ten back then
Why does it need to do that? The school is as healthy as it has ever been academically, if not the best it's ever been.
Losing to middle Tennessee state isn't a signal that we should put in a new, dumbed down major so that we can do better in football. Those types of academic changes don't happen in isolation.

sorry i disappointed you...only go by what im told from people I KNOW THAT KNOW HIM, do you know him
but i edited the post because youre right i dont know him personally...
btw, ive actually become a lot more than whatever the hell i post on stingtalk but if thats how you judge people then i cant help it...
btw, i wont ever meet him, want to know why....he doesnt give a rats ass about alumni
Your last statement is disappointing to hear, Nate. I really wish all of coaches respected our allumni and tradition in a way that our football alums could appreciate. I know Brian Gregory's trying to do that more in basketball.
Still, you really do come off like an ass with your whiny posts after a disappointing loss. I have to say that I had the same impression as Bham that you are a sad representative of GT and our team.
You might want to check out John Davis's posting history. He's not one of CPJ's biggest fans either but he contributes to discussion in a much more constructive way.
You still don't get it. The players we admitted in the year 2000 some we could not even offer a scholarship to today. I am not sure if you are drunk or I am not clear. Admit the players we admitted in 2000 today. Go back to those admission standards. This has nothing to do with majors.
Since you mentioned it though
FYI we added dumb down majors like stac in the 90s. And our degrees got better. A diverse offering of majors has nothing to do with degree quality. But that isn't my point anyway.
As the one poster on this board (that I know of) who's actually taught GT student-athletes, I know that lowering admissions standards will not help things for the reason you indicate. They have to remain eligible. Furthermore, they have to make progress toward their degree under the NCAA APR rules, so you can't just bring them in and bounce them around in the handful of classes they are qualified for academically until they exhaust their athletic eligibility. Tech gets very excited about how each class of new freshmen is the best ever in terms of SAT scores and GPAs. That raises the bar in the classroom and so your student-athletes have to do better as students than the ones 20 years before did.Sorry, i thought you said we needed to add a new major that didn't require calculus. That must have been someone else.
I would honestly be more open to changing the football exceptions as long as it didn't mean a higher rate of failing out. Do you think that with lower admissions standards we would still be able to keep players eligible? I thought we changed the admissions standards because a lot of players failed.

I left the game last week pissed. I left this week embarrassed. I agree that most of the guys quit, but I do have to defend a couple of guys. Jay Finch was puking his guts out on the sideline and continued to play his ass off. He wasn't super effective, but he was out there despite filling up a trash can with puke. Got to give him some credit. Also I thought Izaan cross played with some heart out there today. This whole season he has played multiple positions and played a ton of snaps for a 300 pounder. I'm fed up with this coaching staff, don't get me wrong, but lets not piss on all of the student athletes out there.
Wonder if CPJ tenders his resignation this week?
I'm with you. Just because it looks like our guys quit out there doesn't mean they quit. They were just getting beat. Tevin didn't give up for sure--remember that flying leap for a first down.
What makes it worse is this is year 5. 51-7 was olearys players in chans first or second year. Even chans teams didn't give up in year 4 and 5 etc.
Paul is a joke. His philosophy to recruiting and walkons has crippled this program.
If DRad thought he was deluged last week, he's got another thing coming.
Yeah, wonder what the letter is going to be this week?
"Please stop burning torches and effigies at my door"
Not to the best of my knowledge. You can choose the MATH 1501-1502 sequence (engineering calculus) or the MATH 1711-1712 sequence (finite math and business calculus), depending on your major. The business calc (officially "Survey of Calculus") class is significantly watered down compared to engineering calculus, but it is still calculus and way more math than UNL students in majors equivalent to what the Ivan Allen College offers would be required to take.ND,
I thought we actually do have a degree program now that doesn't require calculus.
When the GTAA hires a coach with no experience coaching at this level, and especially no experience recruiting at this level, why would anyone expect a different outcome?
Gailey failed largely because he had no experience coaching at this level, and he was stubborn.
What does the GTAA do? Hire another coach with no experience at the BCS level and who is stubborn. Then, they give him a contract that makes Hewitt's look like pocket change-- a contract they can't get out of.
This day has been coming since December 2007. But don't blame Johnson--blame the powers that run the GTAA.
