It's Orange Bowl or nothing

Take it as the price we have to pay for being a 6-6 team having the opportunity to possibly go to orange bowl. Would you pay for the price and roll the dice? I'm assuming no at this point, and it sickens me to see so many of you being more ok with forfeiture to keep a meaningless bowl streak alive than having the opportunity for the team to redeem itself after this travesty of a season.

No I agree, NCAA ----ed us, Miami ----ed us and we should beg Acc to fix it for us.

Good luck

Miami didn't ---- us. Last week, y'all were jizzing your pants hoping that Miami would self-impose, because "we deserve to go the acc championship". Today we got ass-raped and most of you lost illusions of grandeur, and see beating fsu as a highly improbable outcome. And realized that we're not going bowling when that happens.

We ----ed ourselves. ---- the bowl streak, I'd rather keep my honor than keep begging for championship games and bowl games. What's a bowl streak if you keep losing anyway???

I don't think many of us would have wanted Miami to self-impose if we realized all the implications. We didn't realize that the rules had changed from last year when UCLA was in the exact same situation and were given a waiver. The bowl streak is a recruiting tool and a badge of honor. No matter how bad or mediocre we became, we still didn't fall off the cliff. The losing bowl games sucks though. It wasn't that long ago that we had the highest winning percentage in bowls and are one of the few to have played in the Rose, Sugar, Orange, and Cotton Bowls.

We'll play fsu and either redeem ourselves or let this die. Sometimes streaks need to die to make room for better things in the future.

we need to call the conference office and bow out - tell them to send VPI - they beat us on the field

If the ACC didn't tell us this in advance then it will make the news of us leaving go down better. How could they possibly let one team screw another team out of the bowls with a voluntary action. That would be a huge mistake on the conference.

What a joke, redeem itself give me a break.

Well said, even with the bleeps. To play in the ACCCG and a bowl game with our record, and to lose both, would create a whole new genre of jokes about GT.

So...

if Tech wins vs FSU- Tech goes to OB; FSU goes to another bowl game.
if Tech loses vs FSU- FSU goes to OB; Tech goes to no bowl game.

how does this make any sense? how does FSU go to another bowl and we don't? Doesn't add up.

We suck, they suck less

No crap. Apparently a lot of people like being the team that made Rudy famous.

Tell me how this does not hurt our recruiting?

Uh, maybe cause FSU is 10-2 and we are 6-6?

Fellas. We DO NOT deserve a bowl game. We get blown out at home to a .500 BYU team and get blown out at home to MTSU. We blew games against VT and Miami. You win those four game and we are not pissing and moaning about the possibility of not making. Bottom line is we backdoored into this ACCCG game (yes, I'm going) and really don't deserve that. Win or go home.. This is our playoff football..

Are you 60 and hark back to the days of old when going to bowls meant something more than it means today?

If Tech doesn't deserve to go to a bowl I guess all 6-6 teams do not deserve to go to a bowl. But based on the way the bowls are setup - they actually do deserve to go to a bowl.

Bowls are big for the kids playing the game. They go to a city where they are treated well for a few days and even get free swag.

So Tech does deserve to go to a bowl and should.

ha ha! Season from hell! Lose to MTSU, fight back to go to the ACCCG only to Pyrrhicly end the bowl streak by some brand new technicality, get blown out by UGA, then watch ND and UGA play in the National Championship game!!! I wasn't very religious but there must be someone up there that hates us this much!

Pretty much.

So question -

If we did refuse to go to the ACCCG, in order to go to a bowl, would we still get to hang the 2012 coastal banner? :)

Isn't this what the waiver is for? This scenario isn't anything new I believe. The waiver pulls us out of the "pools" and allows GT to be normally selected to a bowl. Did I miss something?
