Lawson

Thanks. I'm in class and looked at User CP real quick earlier but missed the "ignore" button.

Coach Pelton. All I'm going to say

I don't see how the number two player in the nation still isn't getting us any love on ESPN. There is not one mention on ESPN about Georgia Tech being in the running for Lawson, except for maybe on Tech's recruiting page but I don't even know about that.

No. I'm not going to play this dumb game where in order to criticize the current coach's recruiting I have to have other coaches ready to plugin. That's the AD's job.

Fair enough, but I asked who you were thinking of when you said other coaches maintain their dignity and win big. If David Shaw is the only one you were thinking of, that's fine.

Its because we aren't seriously in the running. Words are nice, and the kid is probably trying to be nice to his coach, but right now we as a fanbase are those suckers that hang their hats on a maybe from a pretty girl and wait for her to call. Everybody everywhere understands this, but we are just enjoying the feel of smoke up our collective ass, it seems. He's got product that will sell anywhere, he's going to choose a school that is percieved to be serious about football, not a football team that is perceived to be serious about school. Historically speaking, that is, I don't actually know the kid, but we have established a ridiculously strong trend here at Tech.

If this were true you'd think he'd be looking at teams with better recent track records of winning. Instead he's looking at a coach who is 15-21 at his current school, and another who has one 9 games in his whole head coaching career.

Well, it's not that dumb. If you can't name anyone who (i) is a reasonable replacement and (ii) would recruit better than I don't know what you are doing other than complaining about something that can't be fixed.

Teams != coaches != schools. The school he's "committed" to is serious about football, and has had very recent success while their current head coach was on staff, even if he wasn't HC at the time.

Any updates? Clemson board saying UT is out.

WTF is wrong with Lawson, Sr.?

I have no idea, but here's a quote from last June

Carl Jr. said:
They were kind of late to offer but it was just a fact I didn’t feel a connection to Georgia Tech. ... When you find a college, you have to find it yourself. It wasn’t about them offering late because my dad played there. It was about what fit best for me and my family, and Auburn was the choice.

When you take that comment together with Carl Sr's comments about meeting Johnson, Roof and Pelton and liking Roof and Pelton, I get the feeling like Carl Sr may have got the feeling his kid was being disrespected by Johnson because he's a legacy. Who knows?
