CJ Leggett (3* RB) names GT as Leader

Eh, I don't like how restrictive the mods there are. Plus I strongly dislike the forum layout, Stingtalk is far, far more aesthetically pleasing. But, yeah, I'll still be checking it out often.

There is no GT sports forum that supports SSL => government is building dossiers on all Tech fans and will use them against us if necessary

Yale? I didn't think the Ivys gave schollies. Oh, there's money - Pell grants, etc., - but I wasn't sure they had athletes on rides.

Don't know about nowadays but in the early 2000's I know they didn't give any "scholarships", per se. After reviewing a family's financial records they determine how much in grants they give. Athletes were/are treated like the general student body, in this regard.

I have a friend that played safety at Dartmouth and he was on a full ride. Might not have been an athletic scholarship, but it was the same net cost to him.

Not really. The Ivy League schools have some flexibility when it comes to financial aid for athletes. They can be creative.

one day this saying will no longer make sense. neither will "early bird is getting to the worm"

I dunno we still use phrases like "bury the hatchet" and we haven't had any peace meetings with Indians in a while. I could see these two continuing...but don't count your mcnuggets before their thrown in the fryer!

Don't count your power converters before you go down to the Toshi station. /GT

This looks favorable:

06:32:00 PM - Kelly_Quinlan: #GaTech RB target CJ Leggett "@CeejayLeggett7: Announcing on Friday where ill be strapping up next year."

Is he an early enrollment prospect?

Could we possibly get two 4* RB's on Friday?

In an ACC, or Big 10, etc conference, the AA can pay a student's tuition. So the AA has to convince the school to admit the student, then they take it from there.

In the Ivy League (and a few others), the AA cannot pay a student's tuition. So the AA has to convince the school to admit the student then to pay that student's tuition because he or she brings a unique talent to the school.

It seems like a minor difference, but when there's a choice to give a scholarship to a world class cellist or a middle linebacker with 400 point lower SAT score, you want the AA making making the call not "The Hill" (and imagine The Hill on steroids because it's the Ivy League).

I believe the Ivy League schools have something towards a policy that a lack of financial resources will not be the reason an accepted applicant does not attend. In other words, if you are accepted there but cannot pay for it, they will find the money for you (combination of loans + scholarship).

So a full-ride athlete at an Ivy League school would be a full-ride student even if he (or she) weren't an athlete. That is a clear distinction between the Ivy League and everybody else.
