Keith Marshall's Brother

So.. ..we're full right? So the only way we get this guy is if someone dumps us at the last minute and then this guy dumps Vandy or whoever and jumps on us, right?

Per Eric over at the hive, we should get 1 to 2 more with our remaining top targets as M. Marshall & Victor Alexander. Maybe some attrition that the coaches know about but the public doesn't? :turbonoes:

I believe there is room for him and one more. Probably two guys who we don't know about graduating this spring.

Relax. Couple of options, I believe, without over signing

First, depending on what the doctors are saying, Ratliffe can come on a medical redshirt for a year meaning he doesn't count against the numbers.

Second, Jabari doesn't come back on scholarship until he regains his eligibility. So he doesn't count until several months from now when things will be clearer.

Second point is a pretty good one. Jabari should not count for 85, he is a walk-on for now.

Ratliffe is coming with a scholarship though. He might get moved to medical later, but that decision will happen later.

Why are you so bent out of shape over this? Did you ever think that maybe our coaches know something that we don't?

Well it's kind of part of the 10 commandments. Thou shalt not oversign. But Paul Johnson would pay a kid's tuition out of his pocket for a year if we ended up with no attrition, which we more than likely will.

I don't think Cyptom's upset about it. But saying call it what it is.

I think of oversigning as signing 25+ and basically holding tryouts after that so that players have to compete for their scholarship, and then removing players who don't make the cut to get to 85 scholarships. The Saban Policy, basically.

I don't consider it oversigning is you sign 25+ and have 86+ scholarships if you already know there is going to be attrition for one reason or another. For all we know, someone might've quit the team earlier this week giving us an extra scholarship.

stop ruining it. i wanna stay under the illusion that we're a football factory now.

I'm pretty sure paying a kid's tuition out of pocket is a NCAA violation, lol.

I think that "oversigning" because you already know someone's graduating and freeing a spot is a very different thing than oversigning and then running guys out of town, or oversigning and then telling a kid to greyshirt once he gets on campus.

What's dirty is not "being over 85 on paper," it's failing to live up to your obligations as a school.

Anyone else just happy that we are having a conversation about being full/having to make room??
