Geoff Collins is a Joke

Some of you guys crack me up. Year 1.5 of football and CGC must go....5 years of öööö CJP basketball and he still needs time lol
I haven't seen anybody (except maybe some emotional post in the game thread) call for him to be fired this year. I have seen a lot of post raising justifiable concerns on his coaching ability.

Do you honestly feel that based on his coaching history, he can build a winner here?

Recruiting will only take us so far. I don't think we'll ever match recruiting with Clemson, bama, the dwags etc... Say we have top 10 classes the next three years, I still think we would lose 4-5 games based on the coaching I've seen.

I still think Collins could work but we would need to pony up the money for top notch coordinators on both sides of the ball. Like recruiting, I don't think we can match up with the big boys there either.

I agree that it was time for CPJ and the option to go but trying beat Clemson and the dwags by out recruiting them will do nothing but guarantee two losses every year until we can out coach them or they fall apart.

Is Brent Key the solution as the Offensive Coordinator?
Could we hire Ralph Friedgen as a consultant to assist him?

The offense has been productive. Have to quit turning the ball over so damn much, but pretty solid outside of that. I’d say Key needs to show me something in coaching up the OL before he gets a bigger role.

The immediate solution is to bench players doing poorly even if it embarasses the coaches because we gave those kids a coveted single-digit jersey.

Get reps for Akelo, Emmanuel, Franks and Meiguez.

Then try to hold onto recruits and work our tails off to land a DT transfer who can plug and play immediately in 2021.

Like 3 of the games we had no real TEs available so should throw those out from whatever analysis you’re trying to do.
way to miss the point completely.

We 4 who are ATL now
And we are going to sign 3.
We will have no fewer than six scholarship TEs starting 2021 season.
Doesn't that seem like an over allocation of scholarships for a position that just isn't getting used much to do anything other than block?
But Collins is a master of roster management, isn't he?

We really only have 3 (Leonard, Deveney, Ward). Coco is a long snapper walk-on. We are bringing in 2 (Postma and Helms). We see Blackburn as a WR. So we will have 5.

Doubt recruits will decommit at this point. They probably see it as more immediate playing time. That's probably the sell to begin with.

Define winner? B2B 7 games and a bowl appearance (like Gailey) or 2 OB, 1 ACC Title and 3 ACC Title games, two 11 win seasons and a Peach bowl in 6 Years? (like Johnson)

I think it is clear that Coach Collins must get to 7 before he can get to 11..... And the program is set back....but Coach Collins is who we thought he was, He's a crazy good recruiter who is nothing special on gameday, and if we are going to win with him, it's likely going to be in a couple years after he gets "his guys for his system". The downside is that we will suck for a while.

Now if he can't get "his recruits" on defense than the AD & GTAA might get through 4 years, and realize that with a crazy good recruiter we are going to still be bottom feeders... In that case GTAA may go back to the Coach Johnson model which was because of the academic requirements, we don't believe we're ever going to be able to recruit well enough to win by doing the same stuff everybody else does x's and o's wise, so we're going to do something completely different, and see if we can make people beat us one hand tied behind their back and call Jeff Monken....

It will take at least four years.... early results are it is going to be a rough couple of years for the defense...

So our defense the last few years wasn't the Triple Option Defense. It was a defense designed to stop teams who didn't run the TO. So wtf happened? Our defense is arguably the worst defense in the nation right now and it doesn't have a damn thing to do with Paul ööööing Johnson.
Seriously dude what are you talking about? Option defense? You should get some sleep.

I guess we all probably have different definitions of what a winner would be at Tech. Some of us expect undefeated national champions every year and some would be happy just making a bowl every year.

Personally, I expect to be in or close to top 25 most years with a great year every 4-5 years when the chips fall our way. Obviously we all hope for more but I don't know how realistic it is to expect it.

I just don't think with our disadvantages, we can recruit our way to success. We need above average/great coaches to go with the better recruiting.

Look at the games where we had no TE’s. There was a huge difference in play for those games. The TE makes a big difference in our offense.

We have had a few short passes to the TE's that looked pretty good.

And remember, there are several teams this past weekend that had similar outcomes. Even UGAg two Saturdays ago ultimately got steamrolled by Bama

The Fellowship of the Miserable society is back. What is it about GT that causes its graduates to be miserable? Maybe Calculas.

I graduated from SPSU. We are like those slow kids who are happy about everything. What is a calculus? Is that the stuff that builds up around the tub and you need the CLR to clean it?
