This is a PJ defining game.

I don't think that GT has inferior athletes, the problem is you have an offensive system that has not changed since CPJ has been there. ALL college teams that are successful tweak or adapt their offense to get better. The triple option is no longer a new offense to the teams that GT plays. There is nothing wrong with having OL that are smaller and quicker when the proper blocking schemes are in place and you don't have to always cut block. The athletes are there at GT, they just have to be used in the proper manner.

one merged PJ thread now. ridiculous time for these types of threads.

Re: PJ Contract ends Dec 2015 right?

I predict CPJ will be at Tech until he chooses to leave.

I hope so. He's committed to us. I can't see any other coach that wouldn't use us as a stepping stone. I still have faith that PJ can get us to where we need to be.

Re: PJ Contract ends Dec 2015 right?

What's missing? That's right...uniform thread.

Dear Holy God in Heaven - why oh why did you bring that up.

I'll just go ahead and bookmark page 13 to keep up with the hate week threads.

If Paul cant beat UGA at home, with their QB out, a backup with little experience, their best WR out for the year, a lame duck d coord and a uga team coming in with 4 losses, and a OL with two really avg or poor OTs what does it say to you if we lose?

To me this is the easiest and best scenario i can ever think of to beat uga in the past 20 years.

So would you guys agree. Easiest shot in 20 years all things considered? What does it say to you about pj and the program if we lose

For me it solidifies the fact we need to move on.

Ugag is so bad right now, even Ala A&M would roll 'em. CPJ should be fired on the spot if we don't win 50 - 0.

In 2009, we did have more talent but we also had a defense that could not stop people consistently. So, they exploited our weakness against the run and injured our QB , who was out for a series. We won games by outscoring people that year and that series with Nesbitt out was the difference in that game.

Personally, I am also more worried about Gurley running the ball all over our defense. If we can stop him, we have a good chance provided we block their d-line.

At least there is no question about the hate being there, especially with Roof on the staff. I don't think we have to worry about one of our guys getting slammed without any retaliation this year.

Whoa!!!! I know the hate for CPJ and the O is at an all-time high but 17+ pts???? With an inexperienced QB, that 30pts/gm D, and an unhealthy Gurley who may get 15 carries???

You obviously don't know me very well. I was one of the early supporters of CPJ and still am a big supporter of CPJ. In fact..I freaking LOVE this offense and understand this type of system is best suited for GT with its self-imposed and external limitations.

But having said that: UGAg has become so immune to GT much like us against North Carolina, I would be shocked if we beat them Saturday, despite all the intangibles going our way for once.

UGAg has simply owned us the past 50+ years and unless GT makes a fundamental change regarding athletics, its not going to change.

Firing CPJ would be a massive setback and send the message that GT has basically "given up."

GO JACKETS!!

Seriously? Did you really think that statement though? I can understand if maybe your fingers got ahead of your brain and typed that. Otherwise, I have to ask if you've ever watched both teams play football?

All of your posts say one thing only: I LIKE TO LOSE.

Paul Johnson is not GT's saviour. He is a football coach that has been highly mediocre except for one season with someone else's recruits.

In a counter point to your bass ackward logic, we could also go the same route as Vandy, Duke and Stanford. One school beat the Dwags this year and another is top ten and the other leads the Coastal. But I guess it's easy to dismiss winning when you accept failure so easily or when your team sucks worse than Duke.

Somewhere between his post and your post lies the truth. Beej is just digging his heels in because he's a PJ fan, and you're being a little unrealistic in characterizing him as a coach and the limitations we have at GT to beat a top 10 team regularly.

Re: PJ Contract ends Dec 2015 right?

Buyout is 2.5 million a year

so as of this year his buyout will be 5 million.

5 million is not alot for his buyout and actually we have the money in the AD fund to do this. Can someone verify that i am reading the contract right?

FYI without a contract extension at the end of this year...Paul is a lame duck to recruits. Kids committing for 2014 can only see a coach who will be there for 2 years.

So what does the AD do? If we use 2014 as wait and see...does it hurt recruiting this coming year...and hurt 2015 since you start recruiting 2015 in 2014?

Does he just give paul 1 year like gregory?

thoughts...i wonder if Bobinski is looking at UGA and the bowl to direct this a bit?

Maybe bobinski is like other ego AD's...wants his guy for football?

I'd love to hear who you think we can get as a coach and what your realistic expectations are of the program given limited curriculum choices, APR requirements, and the Hill micromanaging our recruiting.

Seriously... until Paul derails the program, which he hasn't, were ööööing stupid for firing him for losing to a UGA team which has had one of the best 10-12 year windows of success in its entire history.

I hate UGA too and I hate losing this game. But you're trying to politic something you aren't clearly thinking through. Give PJ some additional support rope to recruit and see what happens. Next year's schedule doesn't allow for PJ to hide his lack of recruiting. If we need to make a change, it will be evident in my opinion next year based on those results.

Great post, easy to fire hard to hire.

Some of you douche-tards are making me pine for the off-season. :gtfo2:

Seriously, all of this ööögoty-ass navel-gazing during hate week? :iofuu:

Why? It's not like any of us are suiting up this weekend to play.

But if everyone believes that if we "focus on GA", that somehow helps us play better....well, öööö I'm stumped as to why that would help.

I posted this in this thread what i think is achievable if we get a little leniency on admissions and find the right coach.

Now your question is a good one on who the right coach is. That is so hard to determine from our seats. Need to be able to interview and know the candidates to determine. Some coaches interview well. Some dont but are good fits.

I think what works at tech is stuff like chad morris and malzahn runs. Which is not far different from what fridge ran here with hammy and godsey. It is a option infused offense using a mobile qb that relies on pro sets shotgun and sprinkles in i form etc. the guy has to understand national recruiting. Tough to pick out who that is today. I need to think about who is out there.

Edit sorry the gt can achieve post is in the thread titled we run this state if u want to see what i think.

Until GT changes from being a pickup truck trying to win the Daytona 500, there is no need to fire the driver. If GT were to make the structural changes that benefits the Institute as a whole and the byproduct would be better athletics, and the result is the same as it is now, then yes...I could support a change in coaches.

But until then, I say we stick with CPJ and the results he brings us.

GO JACKETS!!
