2024 Transfer Portal

getting? They weren't serious when they gave Ewers $1mm?
Allegedly. The NIL numbers being thrown out there are inflated and 99% of the time bogus. Don’t buy into what is supposedly reported.

Go check out the article about TAMU to Ole Miss transfer Walter Nolan roasting TAMU for the NIL he was promised and didn’t receive. A collective is one thing, and all it takes is a few people with a lot of $$$ who “commit” to paying into the collective, to not actually fulfill the agreement and the player doesn’t get what’s supposedly “promised” at the time of signing.

Yeah, UGA fans were saying OSU was giving Downs $8M

Which is complete and utter garbage. There is no player getting anything close to that. If players were making that much Caleb Williams, Harrison Jr, etc would stay and play CFB.

Have a few made close to $1 million supposedly? Yes. But nothing is real. Bama, uga, UF etc fans complaining about their NIL collective is a bunch of hysteria about nothing. The overall NIL numbers are a running joke right now.

Hopefully in the next few years everything is standardized from an NIL collective with a hard cap provided to all programs to distribute to all players and CFB will normalize. Sound familiar? It should. It’s the NFL model. The Top 10 programs are going to hate it, because it will officially level the playing field for everyone in the P4. The G5 conferences will no longer be a part of the CFP when this happens. More than likely they will compete for their own MNC like FCS on down.

Totally agree. Everyone is freaking out because they don’t understand it. The top programs have been paying players for decades and will be hurt the most when a system is put into place. That is why you don’t see them leading any kind of charge to “work the problem“ right now. They know once we get past this feeding frenzy era that there will be schools emerge who will easily be able to NIL with all the big boys who were doing it under the table. They don’t like that one bit and will fight it behind the scenes, all the while acting as if they care out in public. Just wait until SMU brings the money gang back together.

Over a safety? I doubt 99% of UGAg fans legit care. If it were a 6'6", 340 lb dominant DT, they might care.
Nah. They had one of those that contributed to the death of a teammate and gagger worker. They distanced themselves so far from him that majority of them got whiplash.

I get what you are saying; but how? NFL teams can control NFL salaries with a salary cap; but they have zero control over what players are paid to promote stuff. I remember fondly when Prime Time went to SF because Nike paid him to, the Falcon's could match the SF salary but not the Nike plus up (at the time the 49'ers had much higher TV ratings than the Falcons). In this NIL scenario the school has no control and all the NIL is from "independent collectives", how could you cap that?

Also the power brokers have demonstrated no desire to level the playing field. I don't see a desire among the decision makers to level Vandy & Bama, or tOSU & Rutgers. I doubt Texas and tOSU will be interested in artificial limits to keep Bama/LSU/UGA happy either.

Little chance for that to happen. Why would any of the programs do that? More likely they break away from the NCAA for football and form a made for TV league.

And even if a cap was imposed, you don’t think that those schools/NIL collective would just go back to doing so under the table as well?

So maybe 8th on our men's team depth chart?
