A Player’s Mom Speaks

Did anyone say we wanted moral victories or participation trophies? Nope. We want a full cycle of recruits and to show improvement.
Well, all you guys sure seem to be satisfied with moral victories (close games). And then you slam or demean (through your usual bathroom "humor") those who want more. And then to close it out you point out the few terrible losses CPJ had in his 10 years, as if those few compare to all that Collins has had in just 3 years. You're as bad as certain people in other lines of work who attempt to blame predecessors for the total ineptitude of the current crop of "leaders".

Look, I agree with her to a point but we've been putting up with this öööö a lot longer than she has. I'm missing my first home game since I was 10 next week. I'm going to the beach with my two month old instead.
I fully support this guy skipping the game.

You interpret things how you want, I suppose. Never said I was satisfied with it. I also recognize the process we have undertaken. We have two recruiting classes. I want us to get to Collins players being Sr's, RS-Sr's, Jr's, RS-Jr's and let us take a look at where we are. Sims has shown good improvement. Our OL is improving, but needs depth and experience. We lost by 3. It isn't a "moral" victory for me. It does seem to be a nuke the program thing for you.

Cool story bro. Didn't know I need approval from a random message board person but glad I got it....
When my kids were little we went to 1-2 games per year. I dropped my season tickets in favor of raising great kids. That was enough to make them GT fans for life. You don’t need my approval, but you’re getting it anyway.

Lol, sorry I really thought that was sarcastic. It's been a long day traveling with the little one

you don't know öööö about me, I could be an ex-player or have a son on the team too, I just don't fire up a twitter account to drag out the sympathy card.

Annnnnnnd you STILL don’t get the point.

Bro you need to seriously relax, your gonna have a heart attack while on a messaging board. You get all worked up over opinions, losing by 3 Saturday it is, as they say, "the whole body of work".
CGC sure does like the number 3. Lost to da U by 3, making us 3 wins 2x3 losses on the year. He started the game 3x3 wins and 3x7 losses overall at GT. Maybe we only have 3x7 days of misery left? That would be way better than 3x125 days left.

When did anyone use the word satisfied? Beating a dead horse here but it is possible to be unhappy with the team situation without thinking the coach should be fired. You should look into it.

The coach, no matter who it is or what school it is, ALWAYS bears the responsibility, correctly or incorrectly, for the performance of the team on the field.

I'm not sure what is worse, reading about fans bitching or the bitchy fonts that post 10x as much as everyone else bitching about fans bitching about the ööööty job the coach has done so far.

I think I'll take their advice and put them on ignore.

I feel like this is an attitude we have to fight against. The problem with viewing supporting your team (financially, in the stands, etc) as a product is you come to view it the same as going to a particular restaurant (not really something to build passion about). "Products" also get discontinued. "Businesses" close down. Would you approve of Georgia Tech football going out of business if we get bad enough?
You’re exactly right although in this case a meaningful expression of passion involves writing a check to AA. I mean a bunch of us, including me…I’ve generously supported the academic side, not so much the AA. My hang up is partly the deals that are struck. I’m happy with how the engineering school has spent my money, targeted for specific things. I won’t yammer again about 5 vs 7 year contracts for unproven coaches.

I’ve only met TStan once (Peterson brought him around to boxes for intros) so don’t know him. Would be interesting to know if he would consider passing the hat to specifically upgrade assistants. He would first have to agree with the strategy and be willing to accept money for a specific cause, not just some general fund (for me to get more interested).

I’ve wondered if younger alums will pick up on AA donations or not. Some don’t care about going to games, some think just attending is enough. Will the next generation pay the tab, or just complain on ST, or not care?

The going out of the football business scenario does sort of happen especially with top schools. I’m a Duke grad school alum and they told us in the early 90s they considered going Div.III in football. Duke football practically looks div III to me now. Vandy demoted their AD iirc. I sometimes joke that we’re trying to become Rice.

We are actually favored this week. If Collins will get out of the way Tech might win. If that happens you will see a melt up because we won 4. That will likely get Collins another extension, because Tech AD's always extend coaches who should be on the hot seat. And not to worry about the mutts, they will try to pull off when it hits 50-60, they like the situation in Atlanta here just fine and the last thing they want to see is Tech get someone like Friedgen or Johnson who sliced and diced them.

I wouldn’t know where to start!
Big bad @coit is sweet coity now
Married life done changed him somehow
He's the man the town used to fear
Now they all call him sweet papa coity dear
Stronger than Sampson I declare
Till that brown haired woman, bobbed his head.

Glad to see one of our former players tell her, on her fb post, to get some thicker skin.
