Arik Gilbert in Transfer Portal

Since he has transferred once, he will have to sit out a season before he can play. He may be like the cesspool offensive lineman the Titans drafted and never play again.

That's fine. I doubt he can be any worse than what we've had. Plus, we get him focused on school and making the 40 year decision with his life.

Buster Faulkner is our Co-OC & TE coach and was at UGA with Gilbert. Faulkner should be intimately familiar with Gilbert's situation. If Faulkner wants him and he can get in school, there is tremendous upside at a position of immediate need.

Perhaps there is an opportunity for Megatron 1.0 to play a big brother mentoring role for Megatron 2.0? Would be a great story.

Wait but they both like weed, this might not be the kind of mentoring Arik needs

This is new-age college football. No one sits out anymore. There's some sort of waiver for anything you can conceive of.

Not Gilbert, but we do not a tight end. The kid last year got knocked around quite a bit. I was surprised he transferred in and looked as though he had never been on a weight program.
Probably one of those guys that was always bigger and faster than everyone else he ever played against until he got to college. Never had to work hard because he didn’t have to, and didn’t know how or want to work in college to get better. Competition was never king for this guy, so he disappeared among his peers at the position.
