Bama inlaws...

I am. And that’s the huge risk that Deion poses. We can’t afford to whiff and we need stability more than the circus that is Coach Prime.
But we have to take someone with a high ceiling. It’s a hell of a lot better than turning us into the Mississippi Braves of the NCAA. Hell, they couldn’t even keep Michael Harris and Vaughn Grissom for that long.

I’m fine with that. But hiring Deion is the equivalent of an all in bet on color in roulette. It may work out great. But the chances are even or better that it’s not going to work out.

My mantra will always be, “öööö it, we ball.” Ain’t no halvsies here.

Final thoughts on BoB…I’ve run my mouth too much on this topic….

It’s understandable why some here see him as an attractive candidate. He checks some boxes and is a defensible hire. That said, he struggled to relate to players his first time here and such will be exacerbated under current college football conditions. He is a decent but not great coordinator and provides little game day advantages. His work for PSU was noble, but those circumstances were unique and do not relate to ours. His ceiling is most likely Chan Gailey. Perhaps some are okay with a “meh” hire under the premise we can return to .500 ball.

This potential hire does nothing for me personally and doubt would energize the players or fan base. I would rather take a chance elsewhere..but what do I know.

This is a well reasoned post with barely a hint of emotion. Do you even know what a message board is for?

But seriously…good post.

But we do have to if we want to not be a minor league team.
No, we don’t. We need a solid football coach. We just got rid of a look at me recruiting type and I don’t want another. You’re probably of the age where you only know GT with the idiot and maybe some of CPJ’s last few years. I know we can be a solid football program and that we have fans who will be there when we are. The O’Leary years were great. Gailey was pretty damned good in retrospect (I wish he could have developed a QB and found a competent OC), and Johnson was great with some of the best seasons we’ve ever had.

The idiot damaged all that, but he didn’t sink it.

But that’s not what we’re gonna get with BOB. He’s an ok coordinator, Bama wants to offload him to some desperate team. He won’t be able to recruit at all in this day and age, and his gameplan would really be no different than Chip Long’s. So congrats, we got the bad part of Johnson (recruiting) and the bad part of Collins (coaching), and we’re gonna lump it into one head coach.

The times have changed. “Gailey was pretty damned good in retrospect” compared to Collins. Johnson had his warts but could 1 on 1 coach circles around Gailey. I actually liked Chan but it was time for him to go just as it was Johnson’s time to go.
This disagreement is about should we be safe and consistent or pull out the big (hope I don’t get bant for this) dog and let him eat. If you want Chan, Key can give those results. Our half of this conference is putrid. BoB can give that, our half of the ACC is putrid. Some want more. I want more. GT can be more.

Deion ain’t coming here people
