Bama inlaws...

If he interviewed he would be a top candidate. Just like the other people who interviewed.

The times have changed. “Gailey was pretty damned good in retrospect” compared to Collins. Johnson had his warts but could 1 on 1 coach circles around Gailey. I actually liked Chan but it was time for him to go just as it was Johnson’s time to go.
This disagreement is about should we be safe and consistent or pull out the big (hope I don’t get bant for this) dog and let him eat. If you want Chan, Key can give those results. Our half of this conference is putrid. BoB can give that, our half of the ACC is putrid. Some want more. I want more. GT can be more.

Wrong. This disagreement is about should we be 'safe and consistent' or 'take the gamble on someone who is just a likely to be great as a failure'. There ain't no big dog as an option at this point.

There is some merit to going the Chan Gailey 2.0 route in that it makes us at least palatable to the B1G or SEC.

I think there are options where “safe and consistent” is the likely floor: Key and BoB fall in this category. With the right assistants, either of these could have a lot of success.

Then there are options where complete disaster is the floor. Deion falls here. Collins also fell in this camp. These guys could also be really, really good. But that is less likely of an outcome than one of the “safe and consistent” guys getting us to a reliable bowl team.

Chadwell falls somewhere in the middle.

This post of course assumes that any of these guys are options for us to hire.

Oh boy. No. Sec doesn’t need us because SEC and ugag already owns our market. Big would only want us if we invest in football and basketball. Or to piss off the SEC. Invest. Being competitive in our half of the conference the worst joke of a major conference. You lose.

Gailey 2.0 makes us competitive. A high-risk candidate that falls on his face makes us the worst joke of a major conference. SEC might want us to keep the B1G out of their market. We not only bring the ATL market to the B1G, we also make the Florida market more accessible to them. We probably don't go to either conference alone; but paired with FSU, and/or UM, with Clemson potentially thrown in.

Oh boy, one of those is not like the others. How about Clemson and FSU don’t choose us? Why would they? We officially suck. The BiG and the SEC would be better by adding North Carolina. We just beat them. Doesn’t matter. Outside of recruiting Atlanta and Georgia (which we don’t do well). We offer nothing.
you need a new start, doing the same old thing isn’t working.

You really have no concept of strategic planning. B1G didn't add Rutgers or Maryland because they were winning National Championships or otherwise making a big splash in College Football.

What’s been strategic about the SEC owning their ass?

BOB following clown will be a huge error in judgment.

I can see Batt thinking he has major donors, some who want Chadwell, some who are pushing Key, thinking this is some sort of “compromise” hire to keep everyone from thinking they didn’t get what they want.

I would rather JBatt step up and do what he thinks is right & stand up to those that disagree.
