Unfortunately, I'd be surprised if 2, 3, and 4 didn't happen (and #1 seems like basically a toss-up).

I agree, but we have 4 chances to seal the deal, starting Friday at 3:30 when UVA goes to Blacksburg. At least we know who to cheer for, and upsets on rivalry weekend are pretty common.
I hope AD TStan can keep us from the Quick Lane Bowl.... I would like a Military Bowl invite, but who knows....The Independence Bowl reps were ar our last two games
You fail to realize that Cuse lost to ND so they will not be in the NY6... NC State plays UNC & ECU and will probably finish 9-3.... It appears with your scenario we will have to beat UGA to get a Tier 1 invite...There is only one scenario where I see us dropping out of the Tier-1 bowls, and it requires all of the following happening:
1. Syracuse loses to BC, thereby missing out on the customary NY6 bid, and resulting in both teams finishing 5-3 in the conference (and 8-4 overall).
2. NCS beats UNC to finish 5-3 in the conference (and 8-4 overall).
3. UVA beats VT to finish 5-3 in the conference (and 8-4 overall).
4. GT loses to UGA to finish 5-3 in the conference (and 7-5 overall).
That scenario would produce 5 teams at 5-3, and Tech would have the worst overall record of the 5 teams, possibly dropping them from tier-1. It assumes that the ACC would fail to get the customary NY6 bid that comes with having a team in the playoff. Of course, Clemson and/or Notre Dame could lose Saturday, but would still end up in NY6 bowls, and then Syracuse would be out of the NY6 regardless. Anybody who thinks that Duke, Miami, or VT will bump us out doesn't understand the selection process.
Dont they also have a national championship trophy case?Ehh Id rather UVA end the streak. It’s all vt fans have left.

After that Giglio from the Independence Bowl and Steve Beck, president and executive director of the Military Bowl, both indicated interest in Tech at 7-5.

If we beat UGA I can't imagine any of us would care where we went bowling. It would be awesome regardless. We only need to beat UGA if we are one of 5 teams with a 5-3 conference record.
Plus we had one of the more interesting matchups of the week so not surprising they were in Atlanta.Of course they would. Tech would be the best get for both because Tech should be in a first tier bowl.
The bowl game is Saturday Nov 24 in AthensGranted we probably don't need another bowl thread, but I thought it might be helpful to have a quick summary of the bowl tie-in's – because for me, playing a good-conference opponent is more important than location or whatever.
Camping World Bowl – ACC vs. Big 12
Belk Bowl – ACC v. SEC
Music City Bowl – ACC (or Big 10) v. SEC
Gator Bowl – ACC (or Big 10) v. SEC
Pinstripe Bowl – ACC vs. Big 10
Sun Bowl – ACC v. Pac 12
Military Bowl – ACC v. American
Independence Bowl – ACC v. SEC
Quick Lane Bowl – ACC v. Big 10
Gasparilla Bowl – ACC (or CUSA) v. American
Heart of Dallas Bowl – ACC (or CUSA) v. Big 10
Birmingham Bowl – ACC (or American) v. SEC
The name is ridiculous, but the other issue is playing the Big 12 as opposed to the SEC. I'd rather play Tennessee than Iowa State.Camping World Bowl is a lame company name bowl. I'd rather Tech go to the Independence Bowl or the Military Bowl or something else with a dignified name. This isn't NASCAR, öööö off
