I am having a hard time voting. I am really over this entire staff. Seeing as OL has in my estimation been the worst position group over the past 4 seasons, I have a hard time envisioning Key leading this team after this season.

I actually would have been ok with firing Key and Thacker and letting Geoff finish out the season before this week.

I am going with 6 of 8 with a close game with UGA and only if we have no shot of getting Deion or Chadwell.

Then I blame Key for not murdering him with his bare hands years ago.
I am having a hard time with that also. There is a lot of strong talk coming out of the Edge right now but if that is the case someone should have been having an intervention with Geoff about how things were being run.

If he wins 7 or 8 (lol), itll be proof that Collins was right and you can get players to Tech. Then Ill still want Deion to finish the drill and turn us into the recruiting powerhouse of the Southeast

5 more wins with what he inherited and he should get an interview. If he is offered the job, it should be low salary with heavy incentives. Maybe even an incentive for an automatic 1-year extension (9 wins would trigger it for me).

If he can get 3 more wins that will be impressive; 6 or more additional wins and he deserves a legit shot at the head coach job. I would prefer Deion; but aside from that, a Brent Key that pulls 6 wins out of the rest of season would be enough for me to say keep him.

We only have 8 games left - any winning record out of that would be impressive- but I don’t see anything in this team that says we will win again- hope I am wrong - players need to show up

I went with 5 of 8, which would result in a 6-6 season and possible bowl bid. It would also mean Key would have won half of the games Collins won in 8 games compared to 38.

Since I am going with 5, I should find 5-

vs Duke
vs UVA
@ VPI
vs UM
@ UNC

GT needs to follow what the president said and strive to be good. Get out of the Tech man idea for football coaches. If Key can win half the games left of the schedule he can still lose every game next year. He has not proven anything in his career to become the full time coach at GT outside of being Alabama’s oline coach. Does Bama place more coaches because Saban is so good at raising them or because they have more coaches than most anybody and deeper pockets?

I suspect, rather than interfering directly with the position coaches, Collins’ ”culture“ interfered with focused, efficient and intensive practices required for, uh, elite teams. I recall O’Leary‘s practices were very deliberate with little, if any, wasted time. I believe PJ‘s were similar. I gather Collins’ practices were fun and not so serious. I think Key, having been observant and participant of multiple highly successful coaches‘ practice techniques may instill a different “culture”. Let’s see how this plays out.

This is where I am. All those former GT players who have been on staff under Collins all get disdain from me. Key could have taken a stand upon seeing the circus Collins was running. He had a good rep in football circles and could have resigned and easily gotten another job. His resignation would have spoken volumes. Instead most of those guys just let clownboy turn their alma mater into a punchline while they cashed checks. It’s over so I’ll move on but I won’t forget.

From what I can see there are several games that could have been won if the team had played cleanly.

Sometimes I feel like I live in a different world than some people. I remember Key being widely disparaged and people calling for him to be fired regularly. His resignation would not have spoken volumes about Collins.

Had he quit, I'm pretty sure the reaction would have been, "Thank God, that's a major problem gone" and not, "Wow, if Key is resigning something is wrong and we are in trouble".

Collins might have even been given credit if people assumed he forced Key out!

That’s the point. Key became a joke along with clown boy by staying and cashing checks. He and Choice could have resigned together after year 1 and they would now be welcome back. As it stands, Key allowed his reputation to be sunk as You pointed out. Both he and Choice knew after about 2 weeks of practice in year 1 that this guy was a disaster. And they didn’t stop him. Cabrera is the real hero which is why he’ll still be here and everyone else will be gone in a few months.
