Brian Kelly to LSU [Mod Note: Happy 20th Anniversary Notre Dame scumbags]

This is as bad an idea as Lincoln Riley going to L.A., maybe worse

??? Bad idea for Riley or USC?

I think that Riley will be setup for success out there in one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. PAC-12 is ripe for the taking as well. Throw in more money and what's the issue for Riley? Unless you think USC made a bad hire.

Uh, that was sort of the point. I'm saying I don't think Fickell will do what Brian Kelly did.

Not sure how you missed that so badly.
I have a feeling most coaches would do it because they need to keep the recruiting class together for their next stop...

If I’m a player there is no way I show up for that meeting.

Maybe if I am a walk-on who loved the Irish growing up. Any scholarship player at ND knows the business end of football and would leave mid game if it meant NFL money anywhere near what LSU is paying.

Yet it just about never happens. When was the last one in college football before Kelly?

It's a rare occurrence that a head coach of that standing even gets hired...

Right, because coaches usually aren't interviewing for other jobs when their team is one favorable result away from being in the upcoming playoff.

That might be changing since Riley was obviously interviewing too.

Because you didn't make it, and instead made a laughably ridiculous claim ("I know it happened with Michigan basketball over 30 years ago, but I'm having a hard time thinking of a more recent example of a head coach doing this")? Your earlier post didn't even mention Brian Kelly. It seems like you're now spinning revisionist history about your earlier post.

Kirby to ND.
Why?

uga has the most cash rich Athl Dept outside of Austin TX, and can match any offer if they break their curse.

Ol' great clips might be looking at an $11million per year deal by the time February rolls around, based on the new economy of CFB.

I think BK can do well at LSU. No one thought Kirby was going to do well and now we want him to go to ND. LSU is a juggernaut of a program that has very little in-state talent leave for out of state.

Is the difference between a $15MM/yr lifestyle and a $7MM/yr lifestyle really worth everyone thinking you're an asshole?
Don't people already think this about him?

Edit: Just saw that Jeff already covered this.

Here it is, old sport. Post #77 in this thread. But yeah, it sure is "laughably ridiculous" that I would be talking about Brian Kelly in a thread that's about Brian Kelly.

Pretty lousy to bolt on a team when you're still feasibly in the national title hunt. Reeks of Petrino bailing on the Falcons with like 3 games left to go to Arkansas, except it's worse, because the Falcons had nothing left to play for.

Then again, I don't think anyone ever accused Brian Kelly of being some sort of model citizen. Notre Dame knew who he was the whole time he was there.

I heard on the radio today that Brian Kelly is the winningest coach in Notre Dame history. That surprised me.
