Candidates For New Head Coach

So you’d like us to have him?
Not really. But to say no one would want this job because Geoff Collins hasn't been successful at it or that some of the remnants of Paul Johnson's recruiting is still on the roster, is dumb. A Sun Belt school in the middle of nowhere Georgia just pulled USC's coach, who had two top 10 finishes and a career .657 winning percentage, and you're arguing that Geoff Collins is the best we could possibly hope for? Come on

Ok. Then I’ll rephrase it:

Nobody worth a öööö would want the job.

And a Sun Belt school just pulled in an unemployed coach who was fired because he took one of the easiest schools to win at from #3 in the country to their first losing season in two decades.

And I’m proven correct because the only response a moron has is a big cry.

So is your position that Geoff Collins is a better head coach than Clay Helton?

How did Georgia Southern get Clay Helton?
We have at least a dozen posters here who would have claimed that was totally impossible for Tech - nevermind Georgia Southern. After all, no one would want to coach Georgia Tech football except CGC. {Rolls Eyes}

That having been said, this thread is mastubatory. Maybe is makes someone feel good, but it's totally based on fantasies. CGC is not going anywhere this year. Period. Most likely outcome is that he either gets us to at least some crappy bowl in 2022, or they fire him then.

Personally, I hope he improves and the team improves significantly next year. But I have not seen anything on the field to make me believe that is likely.

However, if they fire him next year, I hope they do it early enough to name a replacement in time to do some crooting, so I don't have to read a bunch of excusemaking douchebags here posting about how his first season doesn't really count.

I’m over being pissed. I’m going hard in the paint on Collins and crew. I believe the trenches on both sides of the ball are the biggest issues, and I realize that it’s not easily fixed in a few years. We need depth at those positions and we don’t have it just yet. There are obviously things I’m not impressed with, but he’s getting my full support without a ton of questioning for 2 more years. I do think he’s done a good job of holding the team together and thus far the recruiting class. I say we put it on BC by double digits and then shock ND. We are about to ride some momentum into the UGA game. This program is about to flip trajectory.

More bitching and moaning. Provide solutions or STFU

My solution is to fire the HC and hire a new one. I've been rather consistent in that theme for several weeks now. Obviously my hyperbole is intended to suggest that I think most options are better than the one we have now.

CPJ never could've been a Tech Man , he was a friggin' PE Major from Western Carolina, that's actually below the Family & Childhood Development Major at Auburn that all their Athletes Major in.

Geez, the love affair that some of you guys have for this dude is perplexing.

BTW , Pepper was a Tech Man
Really? That's what you got out of my post? Jeez. Where did I give you the idea my post was a 'love affair' with Johnson? I was simply making comparison between the Curry years and Johnson's years and how they had those commonalities. That's all. And as to my comment about Johnson could have been a Tech man; it was due to the adjectives used to describe him. He was a perfect Tech man, at least by the attributes seen around here most often. Finally, as to the comment about he could never have been a Tech man, is there any reason why we have so much trouble getting sidewalk fans? I'm so sick of hearing from several of you put down people who go to other schools and they're just aren't 'bright' enough. Here's a clue, not everyone wants to be an engineer. I know you can still go to Tech and be other things, but I know many people who just didn't have the resources, liked a more rural campus or any of a myriad other reasons that they didn't go to Tech, not just because they 'couldn't'. In fact I know of a guy who played baseball at Darton College in Albany and West Georgia. He wanted to play college ball but greater still he wanted to be a Special Ed teacher. Hard time doing that at Tech thank you BOR. But he is one of the biggest Tech fans I know. But to you, he's not a Tech man. I my opinion, he's more of a Tech man that you. I know another guy who just retired, went to Dalton St and worked in the IT field. He lives in a house that I will never afford on the mountain overlooking Lake Allatoona, plays golf three days a week. He's at every game. So let's drop this 'holier than thou' attitude. We might grow our fan base.

You're still talking about firing a guy when none of the players he brought in are upperclassmen. Yes, coaches would look sideways at that, considering that, whatever our fans want to believe, this was viewed as a monumental transition and an extremely tough job. And it isn't financially feasible, anyway. The calculus starts to change significantly after year 4, so why not sit tight?
Oh he’s not going

but to your point in what galaxy would you give that task to the unqualified

We all agree that the OLine is the engine. So why didn‘t CPJ and now Collins get as many as humanly possible? Do we really need 16 wide recievers, 4 TE’s and a ton of “athletes”? With the portal we can now process at will so we need to recruit as many OL as we can from high school and take as many as want to come here from the portal. Then maybe we can find 5-8 who can actually block. I’ve just always wondered why we have been talking about the OLine for years and then when you look at the roster numbers we always have at least 10 recievers/abacks under previous coach who never step on the field. I’d rather add OLinemen to the roster since it’s been an issue for over a decade.

The same place people got the same idea about others cupping the sack™, whatever that means. We can be optomistic about the future without some moron making reference to anyone's genitals.

Pretty sure we are getting as many that fit our criteria as possible. How many of those do you think we'll successfully recruit per year?
It takes years to recruit an entire two deep offensive line. We've had 2 years.
