Catchall Deion Sanders Thread

51 players gone holy öööö

61 new scholarship players has to be a record for a team that actually played the season before, right? It's almost like starting from scratch. Insane.

Collins was a gamble alright. A poor, dumbass AD's version of Deion with weight lifting and people jumping around with money down signs on the sideline.
Who took over a Temple program and steadily did worse than his predecessor until leaving to come here where he did spectacularly worse than his predecessor here.

*69 new scholarship players
I guess the question is, how many of those that left were told to hit the road and how many told Deion to pound sand and are leaving because they want nothing to do with this new regime.

I can't imagine they intended this many players to leave. All of that spring practice was for what? Who is left that went through spring practice?

Whoever remains and those coming in will have summer workouts and fall practice to prepare for last year's MNC runner up on the road. All while breaking in a new staff, new plays, new everything and dealing with a whole lot of WTF vibes around this program now.

I expected all of this to be ugly out of the gate with that introductory team meeting... but damn.

With that much turnover I I don't expect much success next season. Based on their schedule I think three or four wins would be considered a success. The team may have sucked last year but at least had some continuity. This is unprecedented, but with as much hype as they've received I don't think they can get away with three to four wins.

Again, I could be wrong and I’ll admit it if I am.
You’re safe.

Also remember that there are only 20 guys left who went thru spring practice. All these mythical portal mercenaries, assuming they appear at all, will show up just in time for 3 weeks of fall practice and zero cohesion - none of them know each other much less played together.

Also, the staff, as I recall, was pretty blah - none were home run hires (unlike what everyone expected).

I’ll dig into the roster later but I cannot imagine Prime’s kid not getting plastered - I am having a hard time figuring out how they are even going to put together an offense. Who is he going to throw to? What OL is going to protect him or open holes for a run game?

This fall is going to be a disaster.

i would think most athletes would rather live in boulder than say a place like nebraska or iowa or hell even college station for that matter

i would also think that having thousands of fans is not a bad thing... everyone said he has not done anything yet but he has already made them money before even playing one game.. that is impressive to me
Have you ever been to Boulder? Sure it's pretty with the mountains and all but it is freaking cold! Just last year they got a major snow storm at the end of May for God's sake. It is also high elevation which takes some getting used to for some folks. And it is expensive as hell. So hopefully as a player you have some good NIL money otherwise you aren't eating out a lot. Finally, you aren't looking at facilities that are on a par with most major P5 schools. Has anyone heard much about the assistant coaches he has brought in? I haven't. Gotta wonder how many guys would be willing to put up with his ego.

They were ALL told to hit the road. Watch the clip of his initial meeting with the team right after he was hired. Also, all of the incoming recruits, who were promised by the current AD that their scholarships would be honored, had their scholarships pulled right after Sanders arrived on campus. So Colorado has NO incoming recruiting class. This entire roster, outside of the ten or so guys left, will be made up of transfers. As a previous poster stated, this will be like a school that has just started a new program.

Deion Sanders says Colorado had to 'clean out the old furniture' in wake of transfer portal exodus - CBSSports.com

"We already know what we've got coming in," Sanders told the Pat McAfee Show. "Ya'll just don't know what we've got coming in. We already know what we've got on the way in, baby. They're probably in the airport right now."
Losses.....bunches of them, are coming in from the airport.

I see maybe one win here.

Talent means too much. I will go on record predicting 6-6 for Colorado. The challenge, long term, is he a good enough coach to get them to double digit wins

If he really goes 6-6 first season he might not be at Colorado for a second season. A bigger program might scoop him away.

Deion needs to go to a bowl in the first year or the magic will be undone. I think he makes it and Colorado ends happy with the hire.

Where's the edit button. Deion definitely needs to go to a bowl in year 1; but after the post spring game mass exodus this is smelling like a dumpster fire. I doubt Colorado makes it to a bowl and the AD gets run out of town. I bet there are people in Colorado regretting those season ticket purchases about now.
